"SNIP......
A new University of Massachusetts Amherst Poll finds 71% of Republicans and one-third of the nation continue to believe that Joe Bidens victory in 2020 was illegitimate.

(12,618 posts)Maybe he won the electoral college legitimately, but but you make an argument that it's an inherently undemocratic system.
And as far at the electoral vote goes, it's been proven that the Russians hacked the voting rosters. Maybe they didn't change the election, but there's a lot more to be suspicious about in Trump's victory than there is in Biden's.
Trump's victory also defied the polls. Biden's did not. And no matter what you believe, the indisputable fact is Trump became president despite never having won a majority of American's support. Whether his electoral vote was legitimate or not, no one can say he won a truly democratic election. He won based on an archaic, anti-democratic, system that any functioning democracy should have gotten rid of a long time ago.

(118,653 posts)election they will insist on red meat being thrown to them every time the GOP nominee tacks to the center in a federal election. That is what people who follow populist want... to be constantly fed.

(15,645 posts)not make us meek in pursuing accountability for criminal acts. They are not concerned about unity in any way, manner or shape when it isnt 100% consistent with their views, beliefs or preferences. Their goal has nothing to do with a just and fair society with equal rights for all. Their goal is dominance. We should cut them no slack as long as that is the case. It would be fool-hardy to do so.

(15,543 posts)Not one stinking shred. But they don't give a damn about truth, reality, or America.
They have their mouths wide open to swallow all the swill puked forth from their unholy and decidedly crooked and evil Republican Loser-in-Chief.
And then they whine, whine, whine. Yuck. So unmanly. So unwomanly.
What a sorry excuse for citizens they are.

(15,124 posts)had dropped to 25%. 71% of that 21% amounts to just over 19% of all Americans.
The additional people polled who kick the percentage up to the "third" mentioned are wishy-washy "independents" who are influenced by headlines like this one because that's all they read---headlines.

(65,035 posts)I posted a nearly identical reply.
Pew & Gallup both had polls around the end the 2nd quarter that showed 24% R, 31% D, 42% I. (The missing 3% was a bunch of "others".). Both companies got nearly identical results.

Donald Trump..eh, not so much. Except for the indelible mark part, and it's a rather unpleasant mark at that.

(65,035 posts)Pew & Gallup both had polls showing self-declared Rs were 24% of adults.
71% of 24% is not 1/3rd of Americans.
Also, I play golf with about 8 guys who reflexively vote R. NONE of them think TFG won!! NONE!
So, I know a group of republicans TOTALLY different from the rest of the country? I don't think so.
This poll is nonsense.
