The FOX News defense against the January 6th attack upon our Capitol?

I watched a bit of FOX News tonight, at the end of the Tucker Carlson show and the beginning of Sean Hannity, but enough to see how they were spinning today's events around the January 6th remembrance.

It was mostly their "how about" argument.

"How about" all those fires and damage done during the summer riots, after the killing of George Floyd? It was much more damage than was done on January 6th, Hannity said. They were rioting in Lafayette Square and burning a federal building and Trump had to be escorted to a safe place in the basement of the White House.

"How about" when Kamala Harris said the violence would continue and should continue, and would continue after the election. They had a video of the VP's comments to back up their claims.

They ridiculed how the Democrats could have let all of this happen but pretended the event on 1/6 was like 9/11 or Pearl Harbor. They minimized the entire attack.

However wrong the riots and property damage may have been during the summer riots, it was not a direct threat to our democracy. It was not an attempt to overthrow an election or to overthrow our government. It was not organized by the leaders of the Democratic Party, as a means to get rid of the government in Washington.

As much as FOX and the right-wing would want to equate the two sides of violence, they were not the same. Their argument fails at so many points. It is a false equivalency.

"it's no worse than your Antifa friends burning down cities".

FOX found that narrative immediately. DURING the riot.

A far-right militia came to Oakland to attack police last year
Members of the “Grizzly Scouts” hunted law enforcement during the 2020 protests, and one of them allegedly murdered a federal guard.

4. Those events over the summer were protests. Do not allow the right to define the events.

You are correct about the false equivalency. I spoke with a good friend today after several months, and he used the same word - riot. I believe he heard someone else use the same word and he followed suit.

Ummmm-Because the Flynn Spawn was suddenly put in charge of those deployments & sat on it for as long as he could.

Yeah maybe they don't want to know the answer to that one.

But the damage to the audience is done they believe 100%.

9. The January 6th attack against the United States had nothing to do with the domestic riots.

It was all about the defeated Donald Trump inciting an attack upon our country because he and his followers couldn't admit that he lost the election. He did it. He's despicable. Now he's implicated most of the Republican Party.
