I know they are funded by American oligarchs, the oligarchs may even be funding money into the RNC to pay Trump's legal fees.
I listen to Sheldon Whitehouse a lot and he has a pet peeve about dark money in politics.
Purely speculation on my part; could foreign governments be funding the coup planners? I originally thought about Russia doing a deal with Trump, but China seems to be taking advantage of the trouble our democracy is in. Bannon was arrested on a rich man's Chinese yacht. Could China be funneling money to Bannon and others and we know that Flynn will take money from any government.
This thought crossed my mind because as evil as the GQP is I find it perplexing why they so readily are embracing autocracy and countries like Russia, China, Saudi Arabia would love to see the US torn asunder.
Something just smells rotten to me. Would American oligarchs be OK with a dictatorship? I don't know.. I know a lot of other countries would love it.
Yeah, I'm talking treason.

(47,131 posts)Trump, Jared, Ivanka, have had their hands out all along.
They don't care where the money comes from.
Of course the American oligarchs are fine with an autocracy.
It benefits them. Democracy gets in the way of their bottom line.
Putin has been working hard to bring down western democracies.
He has been quite successful in his efforts. Look at Great Britain, look at the US.
China is determined to be the 21st century superpower. A greatly weakened US plays into their goal.

(5,066 posts)Last month, a federal court ordered the Federal Election Commission (FEC) to take action on allegations that the National Rifle Association (NRA) violated federal campaign finance laws. The order, which gave the recalcitrant agency 30 days to comply, is significant, because it makes clear that the FEC cannot abdicate its obligation to enforce federal campaign finance laws.
After years of partisan deadlock at the Commission, it has become routine for the FEC to sit on its hands and allow administrative complaints to languish.
The decision demonstrates that federal courts are willing to force the agencys hand and sets an important precedent for groups like Campaign Legal Center (CLC) and CLC Action, who seek to challenge the FECs inaction.
In 2018, CLC and Giffords filed a series of administrative complaints with the FEC demonstrating that the NRA has engaged in a long-running scheme to coordinate spending on campaign advertisements with at least seven candidates for federal office.
