I guess the Covid policy now is social Darwinism.

So much for those who don’t get the protection from vaccines due to their underlying health conditions. Or worse yet, those who can’t get vaccinated for legit Heath reasons.
For those forced to work and forced to be in crowded spaces to take it home and kill vulnerable family member is pathetic and ridiculous. The alternative is homelessness.

This variant is so highly contagious that people who have been extremely careful are still catching it. It looks at this point like there's no stopping it. That doesn't mean it's pointless to be vaccinated; that still seems to help mitigate the severity of the symptoms. But breakthrough infections seem to be common now. I've read here that there is yet another variant that is still more contagious than Omicron. So yes, it does look like most if not all of us are going to contract some form of Covid.

We have the vaccines available for everyone who will get it. People are getting care in the hospitals and from their doctors. I don't know what they're doing in other countries that we aren't. Sure, we could try to go into lockdown mode like some are, but a lot of Americans would defy a lockdown at this point.

People seem to have decided that the deaths we're seeing from Covid these days are regrettable, but going into lockdown would be more than they're willing to sacrifice for the lives that would be saved. It's a cold, hard fact, but people in this country have always been willing to sacrifice some lives for the almighty dollar. I guess life is cheaper here than it is in other places. Not as cheap as it is in some places, but cheaper than other places.

They’re also doing short term lock downs for outbreaks.

I’d just be happy if we stopped worshiping the almighty dollar over lives. I know POTUS is doing what is possible considering everything.

There is more that could be done, but you know the crazy fuckers are being allowed to dictate.

I wish there was more we could realistically do, but if Biden set a bunch of rules and people started breaking them, we might end up in worse shape than we are already. Once people start defying authority and it catches on, they go a lot further with it than they would if the rules had just been a bit more lax in the first place. I wish it wasn't that way, but that's human nature, especially with crowds. Crowds do awful things that individual people would never do.

The problem is these people are coddled and treated as though they have valid concerns. They are murdering assholes who should be locked away forever.

The Omicron variant isn't anyone's fault, and all previous counter-measures aren't adequate to prevent infection.

If you want a lockdown, you're not going to get it.

The GQP and RW Media made this choice for all of us, not the CDC. They embraced Social Darwinism, disinformation and vaccine resistance.
