General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI have been told my idea for getting people's attention is "silly", so how about someone else
figure out how to do it, please!

PLEASE tell them they must try to get interviewed by one of the main TV media outlets and LOUDLY tell Americans they must DEMAND trump accept his loss, they must DEMAND republicans vote for people to have the right to fucking VOTE and accidentally let the F word slip out so it MAKES NEWS FOR FUCK SAKE!
And then tell their audience to DEMAND that people hold politicians who wont mandate vaccines and masks GOD DAMN ACCOUNTABLE!
I know they cant just conjure up cameras and networks, but they need to do this and they need to MAKE NEWS by accidentally (but planned of course and rehearsed) letting the F word slip while LOUDLY urging this.
Between Covid and the fascist MAGA movement, we are almost completely out of time.
ps
the whole point is NOT to get the attention of other democrats or liberals, people already paying attention...the point is to make NEWS by doing it so the half of the country who has no clue the trouble we are in might hear about it.
Or should we just not even try...

(50,949 posts)Most of the ideas people post here on messaging are good. But they invariably get someone, or many someones, who don't like each one because it isn't the message they find most important, or it isn't the way they would do it.
But the thing is, we need ALL of these things. We need to do whatever of these things occurs to us. Likely not one of them will solve the problem they aim at. The sum of them might.
So great idea.

(34,195 posts)Nor did I see people calling it silly.
Maybe bringing it up again will give it more attention.
Maybe ...

(36,108 posts)Your intention is good - a politician blurting out "FUCK" would indeed be a news grabber
The problem was the subject matter
"What the FUCK? Trump must accept his loss!"
vs
"What the FUCK? Why don't we have free masks, test kits, and stimulus payments?"
Eliot Rosewater
(31,112 posts)And the reference to masks and vaccines is for the Republicans who refuse to do the right thing, like DeSantis.
Where did I mention free masks?
Those are all good ideas also I suppose.

(36,108 posts)You didn't
I was showing you the difference between subjects no one in the real world cares about, and subjects they do care about
Eliot Rosewater
(31,112 posts)Well if nobody cares about people being able to vote and Trump being put in his place then we are truly completely fucked.
And my whole point is most people dont care about that right now, so something shocking has to happen to make them care.
And why not have someone talk about both of these things.

(24,291 posts)"This is a big Fuckin' deal"?
I like the idea. I have noticed that the word Bullshit is now somewhat acceptable on cable news shows.

(31,112 posts)And since not one person who criticized me offered an alternative Im going to assume this is the wrong place to discuss ideas to try to make shit happen.

(51,308 posts)It might get attention, but not the right kind.
Fuck is not some magic word, lol.

(146,308 posts)Perhaps whoever did that would prefer a different approach than using a shocking word that those politicians do not normally use.
Just a guess, I guess.

(42,703 posts)Schiff, Schumer, Porter...or any other "prominent" Democrat isn't going to do what you think they can somehow be persuaded to do. Why? Because there will be demands from both sides of the aisle that they apologize for using such language and within 24 hours they will apologize.
The story will be that they used the f-word, not anything else.
Fortunately, they're smart enough, and experienced enough, to realize that it would be a silly, counterproductive thing to do.
