I doubt very much he'll be jailed this year, though. A case like that will take months to go to trial, the trial will last a while, and if he's convicted, sentencing will be a while after that. He might be in the clink next year, though. From our lips to God's ear...

they want to know who their group leaders were and then they would ask those guys who they were coordinating with, who was paying them, etc.

who told the guy who started the chants to "hang mike pence?"

That is to say I looked at the original posting on his twitter page. It includes no references or links to any specific report at NYT.

IMO this is the account author injecting attitude. Nothing at the NYT confirms this specific action or behavior on the part of prosecutors. It may be what they would do, it may have happened to some of those investigated, but I see no evidence to corroborate it.

Not specifically a false claim but it sure reads like click bait to me. Looks like one more juicy rumor to spread and stir the information stream.

Not that he shouldn't.
You should.

I just don't see America putting a former president in jail.
He will be censored in some way but not by the gray bar hotel.

Just my humble opinion, of course

but that's kind of where I come down too. There could be fairly heavy censure and punitive measures (although probably not for actions in office) - but the orange jump suit, not at all likely.

(we did a pretty good job of making Richard Nixon a political and social pariah - that might have to do here as well)

and "take back democracy".

While I understand mob psychology, where a group of people act as a cohesive whole and not as individuals, all the demonstrations I've participated in NEVER had a "leader" tell us to violate the law. Just march and chant and be respectful of both police and counter-demonstrators.

You'll never convince me that the mob or individuals acted on their own initiative, that it was THEIR idea alone, to storm the Capitol, forcibly enter the Capitol, stop the vote-counting, and perhaps do "vigilante justice". It's disingenuous for them to say they got carried away. They wanted to please THEIR LEADER, TFG.

Trump is guilty of both. Not only did he cajole the insurrectionists to storm the capital, he didn't make a peep to dissuade them from stomping the shit out of it for several hours when he obviously had the opportunity.

Frankly, they've got him coming and going.

acts of omission. If there is true 'commission' - I've yet to see anything (that would come close to holding up in court) laid out. Tie this guy (perhaps in a phone call) planning offensive action against the Capital w/ the Proud Boys ....
