My whole kitchen crew is on quarantine...

except me, my supervisor and 1 dishwasher. That's 8 people out, our whole night crew and half our day people. One person tested positive on Tuesday and another on Wednesday. They will all be getting sick hours from the covid relief fund. Here's the kicker though... the reason me, my supervisor and that one dishwasher (from Tibet btw) are still working? We are the only 3 who were vaxxed and boosted (and asymptomatic). I have burned down my sick hours (even some vacation hours) because of lack of daycare or being super cautious about household members having any symptoms. I feel like I'm being punished for being responsible. I have an unvaccinated toddler at home... and speaking of which he is demanding my attention. Not sure where i'm going with this... except that i've been disgruntled about this all day and needed to vent. Also i have a slight tickle in my throat and damned if that isn't slightly worrying.

I hate it when it seems like people get rewarded for NOT being responsible. That said, I wasn't aware there were any remaining funds for sick pay from the covid relief fund. I thought that ended it September 2021. I'm going to have to research that.

Please take care and know that you can only do what you can do. I hope the tickle in your throat goes away quickly and amounts to nothing.

my paycheck showed 72 hrs covid relief until the new year... then it disappeared. But MA has up to 1 weeks pay reimbursable to the employer. Or at least that's what i've been told by my steward.

I have a small business and I had one employee who refused the vaccine and of course he got covid. I used that program to pay him for the hours he missed while he was quarantined. It made me so mad...I felt like he was getting rewarded for being a selfish jerk. Turns out he was a selfish jerk because he quit his job the day he came back from quarantine with no notice. All I could do was breathe through it.

I hope you're okay...keep that little one safe. It can be so hard when they are toddlers...they just need you all the time.

I switched to video because COVID is going wild in NC and I didn't want to go to the doctor if I wasn't sick. Anyway, I asked whether, when/if (more like when at this point), will I be able to be treated for it? He said with the medications in short supply it's primarily being reserved for unvaccinated people.

i don't think i mentioned how angry that makes me. He did spend a lot of time telling me to just chill because when/if I get it, it will probably be a mild case since I am vaxxed and boosted. But that doesn't change the fact that I am over 65, obese with hypertension, and a smoker. After the supplies loosen up I'll get treated, but for now, unless I get very sick, I just get to weather it at home and hope for the best.

these fucking unvaccinated people too smart to get a jab but never too smart to run to the hospital when they get COVID. they never, ever connect the dots.

I feel everything you wrote in this post. I was so sick last week with a breakthrough case of Covid. I called all over town to get a PCR test and was told they were reserving them for unvaccinated toddlers (understandable) and unvaccinated adults (not understandable). If a DUer hadn’t sent me tests I wouldn’t have known how to handle how badly I felt…being fully vaxxed and boosted I was so surprised how sick I actually got…my only co-morbidity is a little allergy induced asthma.

I am so weary of our society coddling these willfully unvaccinated people.

The cough lingers. I still feel fortunate having been vaxxed and boosted. How bad would it have been without?

I spoke to an ER physician yesterday…he’s a client in our shop…he said that 95%-98% of hospital Covid admissions are unvaccinated.

she told me their hospital is overrun with COVID patients and when I asked, she estimated 70/30 unvaccinated. Probably the difference is the vaccination rate? Sadly no matter where you are there are a significant number of selfish, ignorant covidiots who have not had their jab. it PISSES ME OFF

I frequent sorryantivaxxer.com and while I don't gloat when these people die, the people who are posted there are all "influencers" in one way or another and they were doing real damage while they were alive. should i grieve for them?

and wearing yourself down or getting hurt trying to do 8 peoples jobs is nuts. Give them a fair day's work for a fair day's pay and no more. That you are there at all at this point says a whole lot, if it isn't appreciated it is time to look elsewhere.

but your day will come. This kind of stuff evens itself out over a period of time.

Also, with your responsible behavior, you are serving as a good example. Don't discount that: it is important to have people who an carry on like you so that others can see how it's done.

Plus you have just made a good deposit in the "Bank of Good Will." The old saying "what goes around comes around" doesn't just refer to bad things; it refers to good things, too.
