I am at least 110 pounds overweight

Some of it may be genetics but since I've gone up and down all my life, I believe it is in my present-day control.

If I keeled over from a heart attack right now, would I/should I/could I be a candidate for mockery and shame?

120. I joined a sugar detox group on FB

No shame there at all just people helping you get off sugar. They are a free group and its only $20 to join for life for the daily zoom meetings that are like AA meetings. I have tried to get off eating desserts for many decades and this is the first time it has stuck. I started beginning of September and haven't quit yet. What I like the most is its not about the food, its about what causes the issues. We talk about boredom, anger, depression, comfort, etc.

And it's not about losing weight we never talk about that, its about getting off sugar that is not healthy for your body and addicting. Most people lose weight just from that, some don't but no one talks about it.

If there existed something that was, was effective, and didn't cost you anything, would you take it?

I know there isn't anything like that for your issues. This is purely a hypothetical.

I wish you the best in your health struggles.

The question is....What decision are you going to make to better your overall health?

Back in 2013. I was not at a good place. That January, I had lost my mother to Stage 4 cancer. I took out my grief with food, foul moods, self pity. Just to bend down to tie my shoes, I was out of breath because my gut was in the way.

Days before my 61st birthday at the end of May, I did a 360 just in my undies and was shocked as to how dumpy and out of shape I was. The Venus of Willendorf came to mind. My size 18 jeans were getting snugger. My answer? Go back to Weight Watchers and get back control in my life. That was June 3, 2013 even I stepped on the scale at 208 pounds for my 5'5" frame.

Fast forward to now, the difference is 63 pounds kept off since July of 2014. My health was in danger. Today, I have my health. Life is good. I attended my monthly WW weigh in snd meetings because I am a Free Lifetime member. I am currently 10 pounds under my goal.

May you find your "Why". My grandmother died young at 57. Before she died in 1974, she told me I could have lots of money in the bank. A beautiful home. Lots of friends. Be surrounded by material things. But if I did not have my health, I had NOTHING. I have my health snd then some.

People assume things and judge, not according to truth and good will, but out of prejudices.

I’m overweight as well. I am not only my weight. There are aspects of my weight over which I have no control. I diet more than I don’t. I eat far less than many who are far smaller. But don’t we all have our peccadilloes to deal with? I’m not throwing the first stone at anyone.

As far as vaxxes and masks, I don’t honestly know. I want people to thrive. Even people I don’t like. I can’t “what if” because it’s a false dichotomy. I find that slope far too treacherous.

You sound like a striver to me. Good luck with getting whatever makes you happy and feel good. You matter.

You are not alone. While being overweight is not a problem for me, I have others.
I think the advice given above by multigraincracker is correct: Just keep chipping away at it.
Of course, you are referencing the vaccine deniers, but I don't think the two issues can be
compared.

107. 1) Some health problems have
Sat Jan 22, 2022, 10:04 AM
Jan 2022

absolutely no cure and no medicinal or other therapeutic symptom abatement.

2) Some health problems, such as alcoholism, opiate addiction, or other types of harmful and addictive behaviors require a multi-layered attack to either cure completely, or at least control.

3) Many health problems (including those in the above two categories) exist through no fault of the individual having said health problems. Also, many health issues may at least in part be due to genetics, complicated metabolic issues, or unseen mental trauma.

The vast majority of the health problems referenced above do not spread through the air to other people.

4) And then you have Covid. Which is likely to put you and people you come in contact with at severe risk. The way that is abated is by:

a) Respectfully social distancing
b) Slipping a well fitted mask over your mouth and nose
c) Walking down to your local drug store, sitting down in a chair, and getting a shot.

The individuals in category four above first need to be educated. If after being educated, they refuse to take the appropriate steps shown above in order to protect themselves and others, then mocking them seems to be a reasonable option.

Come back when heart attack patients are filling up the hospitals to capacity. Till then, mocking and shaming those who rightfully criticize anti-vaxers is just plain trolling.

The reality is heart attack patients, and anyone who has an acute need for hospital care, are dying because the hospitals are crowded with covid patients, the vast majority of whom aren't vaccinated. So, if you are genuinely concerned that you are at risk, your ire should be directed at them.

Not taking your insulin doesn't perpetuate a pandemic. Not getting dialysis doesn't perpetuate a pandemic. Not taking blood pressure meds doesn't perpetuate a pandemic. All sorts of self-destructive behavior can occur, and it doesn't make a pandemic worse. What worsens it, FOR EVERYBODY, is refusal to vaccinate and then ending up clogging hospitals for the rest of us. If you do have a heart attack, you should be SUPER PISSED if your care is compromised because of unvaccinated morons diverting resources. This is just dumb.
