This prediction from 4 years ago about Republicans

An Exit From Trumpocracy
The stability of American society depends on conservatives finding a way forward from the Trump dead end.
By David Frum

“If conservatives become convinced that they cannot win democratically, they will not abandon conservatism. They will reject democracy.”

at least since Reagan, and probably since Nixon.

Demographics have been moving away from white supremacy for a while now, and basically everybody knows it. It's why Trump was able to gin up so much enthusiasm from the crazies.

Not sure I agree with a lot of the author's points, but very much food for thought.

Conservatives provide a needed function in government. They exist to make sure that spending doesn't get out of hand and that the government remains stable. Trumper Republicans don't fit the mold of true conservatives. In fact, I haven't seen anything they're good for.

They are in no way conservative and do not deserve that word. Words have deep meaning to people and political conversation. There needs to be a better word for them and the word conservative needs to be stripped from them forever

How about calling them anti-conservatives?

They aren't the dampening effect on the Democratic socialistic tendencies...they are nothing but fucking opportunistic politicians saying and doing whatever they think their constituents want them to say or do so they can get back in control, double down on removing the laws they don't like and getting mighty whitey whatever they want, which is mostly put the black and brown skins and us snowflakes out of service.

Nothing new about what they are, just a ratcheted up strategy to reach their goal...

Listen to Hannity radio one day, any day, and he eventually goes into his sermon about Conservatives...they believe in the Constitution and freedom and the 1st Amendment and the 2nd Amendment and the right to choose and the opportunity to achieve greatness. They don't want anything for free, just the opportunity to earn what they get...

He might not come right out and say it but he's pissed because he has to pay taxes, some of which, might pay for food stamps or free lunches or Medicare or ObamaCare or some kind of incentive for a Mexican to start a business or help AOC get re-elected. All those people getting something for nothing...

They are a minority wanting, demanding, majority rule...and they are not going away.
