Domestic violent extremists and racially motivated extremists have been developing plans to attack the U.S. electric sector, according to an intelligence bulletin from the Department of Homeland Security that was issued this week and obtained by The Daily Beast.

“DVEs have developed credible, specific plans to attack electricity infrastructure since at least 2020, identifying the electric grid as a particularly attractive target given its interdependency with other infrastructure sectors,” the alert said.

DHS’ Office of Intelligence and Analysis issued the alert to the electric sector Monday, following requests from power companies to take stock of increased threats from domestic violent extremists in 2020 and 2021.

The alert comes as DHS and federal investigators strain to keep up with the threat of domestic violent extremists, and continue to work to charge participants in the Jan. 6 insurrection. The head of DHS’ Office of Intelligence and Analysis John Cohen told lawmakers in recent testimony that, nearly one year after the riot on Capitol Hill, the threat landscape from domestic violent extremists “is one of the most complex, volatile, and dynamic that I’ve experienced in my career.”

I didn't google the Uni-Bomber or Timothy McVeigh's criminal charges, I think I assumed they were charged under that umbrella.

I was stunned to learn in relation to Jan 6 prosecutions reports that domestic terrorism doesn't exist in law.

I can understand how that such charges could blow back on the "left" under right wing fascists regime here. None the less, this is an example of why we need such laws in place.

Running in different places I’ve seen the massive power lines going through farm land. Some redneck in a pickup could do some serious damage and then just drive off and no one would know.

"domestic violent extremists and racially motivated violent extremists"

Trumpists and BLM, respectively, are what this memo actually refers to, in so many words.

That's all they're willing to come out and say, even under Biden. Both sides do it, don't you know!

The white people are the 'domestic' ones, and the black folks are the 'racially motivated' ones.

That's possibly the most disturbing part of this, to me.

From the article:

"The previous indictments allege that Collins and Kryscuk were members of and made multiple posts on the “Iron March” forum, a gathering point for young neo-Nazis to organize and recruit for extremist organizations, until the forum was closed in late 2017."

I'm not saying there's ACTUALLY a threat from BLM types, but the DHS won't come straight out and say 'it's white people', they are doing the both-sides thing.

The 'racially motivated' bit ... is meant to represent BLM.

You can believe me or not, but I'm tellin' ya ...

That way, someone pre-disposed to hating BLM will interpret it that way and believe it to the core.

But I'm convinced DHS are purposefully trying to interject a 'both-sides' ambiguity here, though all of us on our side have no doubt ... there is really only one side that's a threat to do this.
