One major reason that Conservatives tend to be less funny than Liberals is that they lack one crucial trait that is (at least in my opinion) necessary for comedy. The ability to laugh at oneself.

A lot of comedy is built upon ideas of the absurd. Laughing at things that WE do as humans, but in a self referential way. I was walking up the stairs in my house and I tripped and fell. It was going up so I just went in and caught myself. I was not hurt at all. I started laughing because I was able to envision how funny I must have looked as I fell. Just an absurdity in life. We laugh at mundane comedy like Jerry Seinfeld's observational humor about, riding the subway...

Conservatives in general, but the more right wing you are, the more intense it is, have an aversion to laughing at themselves. Laughing at yourself implies a vulnerability. As I said, I laughed because I imagined I looked goofy trying to regain my balance and stop the fall. Had I done it in front of others, I may have been embarrassed. It was definitely not a "cool and controlled" look.

Liberals laugh at everything, including themselves. Conservatives tend to only laugh at people they perceive as weak or flawed. It is an almost cruel humor. This is why people like Greg Gutfeld are not funny and people like Dennis Miller, who used to be moderately amusing, are now so bad. I was watching Jim Bruer, who is a physical comedian like Jim Carey, who was big in the 90's and on SNL too. He is now a right winger and was doing a comedy set talking about vaccines and Fauci. While I wasn't too into him even back in the day, his recent set was cringe worthy in how bad it was. He walked around like a "cockatoo" repeating "Listen to Fauci" and "Gotta get boosted". I don't know why he had to go with Cockatoo, since while some can mimic speech, that is not what they are known for. He could have just said Parrot because everyone can relate to "Polly wanna cracker", anyway, it was just not funny at all. Likely because it was informed by defensiveness and attacking people who accept science and expertise when taking in their health information. The "absurdity" actually lies on HIS side, anti-vaccine people who accept SOME science, but reject that which clashes with their political or emotionally held ideas. Not good for comedy.

Also, the difference between a George Lopez talking about Chicanos and Mexican-Americans, and a white comedian doing the same, Or like Chris Rock or Cedric the Entertainer talking about "Black folk" and someone like Stephen Crowder doing it. The former comedians are talking about experience within a group THEY belong to, while the latter is talking about groups with which the only experience they may have is through stereotypes. The former are relatable and the latter are exploitative.

Long story short, there are many reasons Conservatives are just not funny. A big one in my opinion, is they cannot laugh at themselves.

Both require brain cells.
