(19,253 posts)Need to have a new justice confirmed before the Fall or Reps will block it if they take the Senate.

(3,557 posts)Especially someone who had to work from nothing and experienced what its like not to be a guy like me with most advantages a person can have growing up.
Im having flashbacks to the Chapel Show segment when keeping it real goes wrong - except if youre appointed for life, it cant really go wrong for a Supreme Court Justice.
There are some great judges and potential appointees out there. I believe we will end up with someone solid regardless of who is ultimately confirmed.

(17,462 posts)I saw a comment that he will retire in June. That would make sense, and give plenty of time to appoint a replacement before the next SCOTUS term and the midterm elections.

Good for Justice Breyer, strategically timed to have a Biden appointee in place for the opening of the next term.

Just for a year or two, and then Hillary can retire and we can have another appointment.

The cons would go nuts, same if Biden nominated Hillary.
