"Over the past several months, all 4 #PASen candidates had the chance to make their case to @PADems members about why we can win.
Today, 60% of them voted for our campaign more than double the other candidates.
We will continue to outwork everyone in this race all year long."
"Big momentum boost for our campaign today at @PADems Endorsement. We got 169 votes 60% on the 2nd ballot.
We will keep outworking every campaign in this race, & we need your help to keep the momentum going: "~ connor lamb

(7,412 posts)Guess the question is can he get people to turn out in safe Democratic House districts, midterm elections are tough in that regard. A young white guy doesnt really enthuse the black vote Democrats rely on, Fetterman has that problem as well though.

(7,733 posts)In fact, the opposite. Very bland, uninspiring, a coservadem. Fetterman is authentic. He can relate to the working class because he lives among them and understands them and their needs, knows how to communicate with them about those issues. He also fought hard to keep the Fascist PA Republican legislature and outside Trump groups from stealing PA which made him much more well known here, the all important name recognition. And he's STILL trolling the Texas Lt Governor on Twitter

(94,757 posts)Lamb defeated an incumbent Republican and has been winning in a district with a lot of Republican voters. Seems like a good formula for winning a Statewide election.

(7,412 posts)People are less motivated in midterms when their specific district is safe. Which of those two is more likely to get voters to turn out statewide in districts were the House seat is safely in Democratic hands? Who would do better in the Philadelphia area for example and motivate voters to turn out for them?

When Republicans in Congress passed a massive tax-cut bill in 2017, it drew widespread criticism, particularly the fact that the tax cuts were permanent for corporations, but temporary for individuals.
Now with the passage of H.R. 6760, aka "Tax Reform 2.0," those temporary cuts for individuals are one step closer to becoming permanent. In addition to extending the reduced individual tax rates past 2025, the proposal would also double the Child Tax Credit and restore cuts to estate-tax filings of about 5,000 of the richest American families.
And two local representatives, U.S. Rep. Conor Lamb (D-Mount Lebanon) and Keith Rothfus (R-Sewickley), backed the bill. It passed 220-191. Lamb was one of only three Democrats to back the bill.

I am sure you will be shocked to learn that one of other 2 was.......... Sinema, lololol (plus another now Senator, Jacky Rosen, and all 3 at the time were in......... (I know, another shocker, lolol).... drum roll......, the Lieberman-run, RW billionaire founded and backed Problems Solvers caucus)
Lamb voted almost 70% of the time with Trump in the 115th Congress (the one during that article) Only the Rethug fundraising and campaigning for, anti-LGBTQ, forced birther, A rated by the NRA, conservadem Henry Cuellar had a higher rate out of all Dems in Congress

(3,635 posts)We need tougher people who can call issues out plainly, and Fetterman does that. He did a good job of standing up to the Big Lie proponents before and after the election.
I don't see how Lamb motivates the base enough to win in a swing state.

(15,325 posts)..stalking down with their pick-up & a shotgun, an innocent Black man, chasing him into the next district.
There are other methods Fetterman could have used. The man he chased down did nothing wrong. This all occurred based on a suspicion.
His judgment in that situation was neither professional nor does it follow the basic rights of a civil society.
That made me sick to read of the vigilanti justice by Mr Fetterman.
Its disgusting. Imagine if a Police Officer had done that. Imagine the protests by Fetterman's own supporters. The hypocrisy reeks.
His judgement is a big concern.

(3,635 posts)and as a man of color and BLM supporter, I accept his explanation. I'm not a PA resident and don't have a vote, but if I did I would vote for Fetterman, who is a fighter and seems in tune with the base, whereas Lamb comes across as just another mealy-mouthed play it safe politician. I didn't see Lamb move a finger during the pre/post election period to counteract the GOP Big Lie machine, whereas Fetterman was out front in the media fighting back.
Who can win a media facedown with Trump/MTG/Gaetz/Tucker et al? Fetterman can do that, Lamb can't. We need Dems who can fight and control the media narratives.

(15,325 posts)Bottom line, he assumed a Black man was up to something & with his own truck & shotgun handy, tracked him into another district, which btw has No Open Carry Gun Laws. As a public servant, he should have been aware of this as he held the Black man at gunpoint.
The Black man actually had done nothing wrong.
Fetterman's lack of judgement in his presumptions, with no proof in that moment, Are a Serious Red Flag for voters & all of us.
Imagine the loud protesting if it were Connor Lamb that did that unthinkable deed instead of Fetterman.
Chased down an innocent Black man & held him at gunpoint
THESE ARE THE ONLY FACTS THAT MATTER.
The rest is called backpedaling to bury the story.
Pretty horrific thing to do to another human being Black or not.

(7,733 posts)Fetterman said race played no role in his decision to pursue Miyares. He has long said Miyares was dressed in black and wearing a face mask.
Between the ski mask and the way this person was dressed, bundled head to toe in the dead of winter, I didnt know what race that individual was, or even their gender, Fetterman said Tuesday.

(94,757 posts)As I said in another thread, I met with him and came away with no idea of what he'd actually DO in the Senate. It great that he "supports the working class"; what does that actually mean?

(3,635 posts)Rose is the ultimate tough talker who has no coherent message, and tends to spout Fox News talking points about the left.
Fetterman is a tough talker but he's also accomplished and smart guy, who is on our side and not a sellout.
I have no idea how someone would answer what they'd 'do' in the Senate. It's a dysfunctional legislative body that is gummed up by the filibuster in most cases. It's not like being mayor or governor or president where you can control the agenda.

(10,465 posts)Fetterman did himself no favors on Thursday by at first skipping out on the President's pre-planned visit, then showing up wearing shorts. (In freezing weather?) I know that's on-brand for Fetterman. But, the optics of it were pretty bad. Besides, that bridge collapse was practically in his front yard. (I know. I have a friend that lives down the street from him in Braddock.) He didn't have to show up for the President looking like he'd just come from the gym. It may go over well in PA State government, but I'm guessing that people want their Senators to look more... Senatorial.
