Girl Scout Launches Cookie Boycott Campaign After Organization's Inclusion Of Transgender Child

Girl Scout Launches Cookie Boycott Campaign After Organization's Inclusion Of Transgender Child

A California-based teen is hoping to spearhead a national boycott of Girl Scout cookies after the organization's controversial decision to admit a 7-year-old transgender child to a Colorado troop this past fall.

The girl, which World News Daily has identified only as Taylor from Ventura County, Calif., appears in a YouTube video in which she claims her organization is using proceeds from sales of the popular cookies to "[promote] the desires of a small handful of people."

"Right now, Girl Scouts of the U.S.A...is not being honest with us girls, its troops, its leaders, its parents or the American public," Taylor, who claims to have been a Girl Scout for eight years, says in the clip. "Girl Scouts describes itself as an all-girl experience. With that label, families trust that the girls will be in an environment that is not only nurturing and sensitive to girls' needs, but also safe for girls."

She goes on to note, "I am asking you to take action with me and boycott Girl Scout Cookies." The video eventually concludes with a tagline for the Honest Girl Scouts site, which describes itself as a group "concerned with the alarming choices GSUSA has been making," and "advocating for a change back to simply building girls of good character."

Last fall's decision to admit Bobby Montoya after initially excluding her has already been met with considerable controversy. In December, three Louisiana-based leaders resigned and dissolved their troops in the wake of the incident, with one calling it "an almost dangerous situation" for children, according to The Baptist Press.

Usually I don't buy Girl Scout cookies but thanks to this girl, I'm gonna buy 10 boxes of them. Of course I'll take them all to the local Breakfast Mission in our city so others can enjoy them (I can't eat them - trying to lose weight)

I'm going to go add a few more boxes to my co-worker's kid's list.
I'd be so, so sad if Taylor was my child. That may sound mean, but if I ever have children, I sure as heck hope they're more caring, nurturing, and open-minded than this.

The Girl Scout Promise

On my honor, I will try:
To serve God and my country,
To help people at all times,
And to live by the Girl Scout Law.

The Girl Scout Law

I will do my best to be
honest and fair,
friendly and helpful,
considerate and caring,
courageous and strong, and
responsible for what I say and do,
and to
respect myself and others,
respect authority,
use resources wisely,
make the world a better place, and
be a sister to every Girl Scout.

I think the The Girl Scout Law kicks ass!

Which your wiki link points out. I've got no issue with the GSs but as an atheist (and there are young individuals who consider themselves such) the fact the GSs is a "spiritual" movement... That said, I think the GSs are inclusive and wouldn't deny an atheist her rights.

You're overlooking the part about letting the girl define for herself what her beliefs are & to substitute her own definition into the GS Promise. She doesn't have to say anything at all if she doesn't want to and she won't get kicked out for being an atheist. Quite the opposite of the Boy Scouts.

or that they wouldn't include an atheist? No where.

If you read my reply to LynneSin, I said some people may use that bit of wording to use it against atheists. I didn't say they would, I said some people would.

This girl has a GREAT future as a republican candidate for office.

My family and I are going to buy LOTS of Girl Scout Cookies this year! My wife loves Thin Mints. I love the Tagalongs and Samoas. My son will be 12 in March and he's making the transition from being interested in Girl Scout Cookies to being interested in Girl Scouts!

PEACE!

Churches, scouts, schools . . .Glad they are showing their faces so blatantly now, before their insidious infiltration is complete. Characterizing a seven year-old transgender child as dangerous is just moronic, maybe a danger to opening a few minds, maybe that is what they are really afraid of. I will buy and donate cookies too.

My daughter is a Girl Scout and it is cookie time!
I am kidding of course.

Our local troop is run by a Christian, she doesn't push faith too much if at all, if any thing, her Irish heritage gets more play as the girls are well versed on all things Ireland.

This story is sad.

Buying some and giving them to the hungry.

I just can't understand some people. The transgendered child is only 7, so it's not like she's going to be a real threat to anyone. And are those "leaders" from Louisiana really going to shut down their own groups because of this? They're just denying more girls the same experiences that they want to deny Bobby. The only "dangerous situation" for children is attitudes like their own.
