2. Reminds me of the movie Farenheit 451, where people memorized books and became the books.

They would introduce themselves as the book's title. I'm "To Kill a Mockingbird", or I'm Slaughterhouse Five".
And they would speak the book, and teach others to be the book.

The group's shaman would relate the verbal history of the tribe as they sat around the campfire.
In the Americas, Europeans would kill all the shamans to destroy the indigenous people's link to their past. It helped reinforce the false claim that they were savages.
The real savages came from Europe.
