From your tweet: (19D-8R to 22D-4R), so +11 to +18, which is a net +7 D for the NY delegation total Celerity Feb 2022 #10

Republicans loudly said "NO".

So, if they are playing this game, we need to as well.

Allowing them to take everything because we're not willing to get our hands dirty is stupid.

They chose not to.

Now, the best way to get them to regret their decision is to beat them over the head with it.

We'll flip three seats (eastern Long Island, Staten Island and Central NY) and the Republicans will lose the one seat moving to another State.

Democrats take NY1 (Long Island): +1

Democrats take NY11 (Staten Island): +2

Democrats take NY23 (Central NY): +3

Republicans lose NY27 due to redistricting: +4

Each Democratic gain results in a Republican loss, but you don't count them as extras.

We have over 474,000 people, and that should be enough for one Congressperson. I don't care if it helps us or not.

Not even close. Districts have to be as equal in population as possible. When you divide the total population of New York by the number of congressional districts it is allocated then you will see the population of each congressional district needs to be 776,971. A big population deviation between districts would absolutely get a map thrown out of any court.

Its always reached into Brooklyn because the SI population is so small. Only question was: do you go west (Bensonhurst: more conservative) or north (Sunset Park and Park Slope: more liberal).

Not that they can though. Too much red tape. I can't stand Nicole M, but if Staten Islanders overwhelmingly want her, they should be able to have her represent them.

There's an independent commission. That said, the commission's map is apparently quite favorable to Democrats.

Also happened like 20 years ago when we got rid of McLintock.

Either you just accept gerrymandering and California and NY push out GOP pol's... but then if you complain about Texas, Ohio and Florida doing it...

It lights up the "Intellectual Honesty" alarm.

I expect to see Texas, FL and OH push out lots of Dems.

I like the NY state position here compared to the pure racial gerrymander done in Texas. The Texas boundaries will be used in the 2022 election cycle and I suspect that the New York maps will be survive also

These cases will be fun to watch.
