“Democrats have drawn themselves aggressive maps in Illinois and New York as part of their efforts to overcome perceived Republican redistricting strengths this midterm year,” Axios Axios reports.

“They’ve also been in position to veto some GOP maps and win court challenges to Republican districts.”

“The wins are adding up, with Democrats now set to potentially gain now set to potentially gain two to three seats through redistricting.”

First and foremost because its absolutely critical to continuing to advance the president's agenda and stop the GOP from pushing us further towards fascism. Second, It would be so great to see Kevin McCarthy reaction when he realizes he wont be speaker, especially after all that groveling and abandonment of decency and honesty he did to try and get the job.

Do we like redistricting, or not? Weren't the Rethugs drawing weird districts in Texas, and we hated it, but the weird districts in IL, (where I live), are OK? I received a copy of my district for Rep in the mail the other day, and it is really convoluted.

I'm sure someone could come up with a computer program to do it. But if Republicans are going to be aggressive about gerrymandering, I say let's fight fire with fire.

this has been going on for a long time. Hard to tell who started it all. Here in IL, it's really just SOP anymore.

Is us doing it making it right? I mean, if we're doing it, they can point to us, and say how bad we are. If they're doing it, we can point to them and say how bad they are. And around, around, and around we go.

Democrats have put forth a bill to basically outlaw gerrymandering.

It hasn't passed due to Republican obstruction.

Go complain to them.

Right now, the Republicans gerrymander with a fairly free hand, we sit there saying "we're better than they are, we don't do that" and the Republicans use their gerrymandered districts to ram through some egregious stuff.

My recommendation is to gerrymander the Democratic states to the point where a Republican couldn't get elected if he ran unopposed, push through a lot of liberal bills, then sometime around 2019 we sit down with them and try to work out something that's fair to both sides.

I point out that IL (blue), has been gerrymandering for quite some time. We have been in control of the legislation for quite some time. Right now, the Rethugs couldn't stop a bill to save their lives, with our current numbers. So, to all who are disagreeing with me, who's at fault, again? In red states, the R's are doing it. In blue ones, we are. Again, round and round.

As long as they're doing it, we have to to counter them. When everyone plays fair, we won't have to. At least this way we might force them to do the right thing.

and "fair redistricting" when we do

A joke about 200 years old.

As long as I've followed it, you can pretty much split the most heavily gerrymandered districts along the lines of who has the most power in the state house. We do it to them as hard as they do it to us, and squeal just as hard as they do when it's done to us. Pretending otherwise is self-delusion.

is that if GOPers take Democrats to court about daring to jerrymander districts then by default they'll be arguing against the far worse jerrymandering they've already accomplished.
