Title XXIII MOTOR VEHICLES
Chapter 316 STATE UNIFORM TRAFFIC CONTROL
SECTION 183 Unlawful speed.

(1) No person shall drive a vehicle on a highway at a speed greater than is reasonable and prudent under the conditions and having regard to the actual and potential hazards then existing. In every event, speed shall be controlled as may be necessary to avoid colliding with any person, vehicle, or other conveyance or object on or entering the highway in compliance with legal requirements and the duty of all persons to use due care.

(2) On all streets or highways, the maximum speed limits for all vehicles must be 30 miles per hour in business or residence districts, and 55 miles per hour at any time at all other locations. However, with respect to a residence district, a county or municipality may set a maximum speed limit of 20 or 25 miles per hour on local streets and highways after an investigation determines that such a limit is reasonable. It is not necessary to conduct a separate investigation for each residence district. The minimum speed limit on all highways that comprise a part of the National System of Interstate and Defense Highways and have not fewer than four lanes is 40 miles per hour, except that when the posted speed limit is 70 miles per hour, the minimum speed limit is 50 miles per hour ...

He tried to pretend it's a crime to drive a few miles under the speed limit. That's a lie. Isn't that kind of dickish?

but he never ticketed him and it was not worthy of following him and yelling in his window. I saw it as a waste of energy.

Or do you also see that as "a waste of energy"?

The cop should have identified himself when asked, and apologized. If had done so, instead of lying to the guy and refusing to give his name, that would probably have been the end of the matter.

way of avoiding a ticket is to say something that will boost their bloated ego. Retired truck driver and that's my advice.

I am the speed queen in our family. The last time I was in the car and they brought over their lights to flash in his eyes and there were three cop cars...I was pissed so I politely asked why we were stopped. I am short and I think they thought hubs was alone. They said he was under the speed limit...so I looked d at them and said according to the GPS, it is 25 here. And since when is it illegal to drive a couple of miles under the speed limit?

They wanted my husband to get out and do a sobriety test...well he just had surgery so I said...take us to the hospital and get a blood test and then we sue your butts...this is the third time we were stopped for nothing. I expect the city will settle out of court and you are being recorded by the way.

The cop said he was only "concerned'. I thanked him for his 'concern' and then waited for him to say something...after a pause he said clearly we were not drunk nor drugged so we could be on our way. He then followed us until we turn off on our road...just a little more intimidation I expect. I don't know what is wrong with these cops today...never seen anything like it.
