theology. Many who espouse traditional or contemporary Christian values, faith and practices would not recognize it as Christian at all. Historically much evil has been done under the banner of Christ's name. Many contemporary Evangelical Christians have been swept up into political acts which I doubt the man their views are named for would accept.

"Christian Nationalist" says it all as a term and is correct usage according the sources I read. It is a particular point of view not characteristic of traditional Christian beliefs, rather it is derivative of Dominionism. Some have asserted it is a form of Christian based religious extremism akin to ISIS in the severity of its views.
*****************************************************************

Dominion theology (also known as dominionism) is a group of Christian political ideologies that seek to institute a nation governed by Christians based on their understandings of biblical law. Extents of rule and ways of achieving governing authority are varied. For example, dominion theology can include theonomy, but does not necessarily involve advocating Mosaic Law as the basis of government. The label is applied primarily toward groups of Christians in the United States.

Prominent adherents of these ideologies are Calvinist Christian reconstructionism, Roman Catholic integralism, Charismatic and Pentecostal Kingdom Now theology, New Apostolic Reformation, and perhaps others not identified here.[1][2] Most of the contemporary movements labeled dominion theology arose in the 1970s from religious movements asserting aspects of Christian nationalism.
