Inflation is the unfortunate sidebar to an economy that is surging in all sectors.

When the Fed inches up interest rates it'll dampen inflation and get it in check.

And yet the mainstream media narrative is that the economy is in shambles.

It simply is not true.

Every media outlet has a moral duty to talk about not only how strong the job growth is now, but how it was much stronger previously than they reported.

It wasn't their fault the BLS numbers were wrong, but they have to attone for their part in the narrative.

The big takeaway from the jobs report = The US jobs market is even stronger than we thought.

+476,000 jobs added in January
+510,000 jobs added in Dec. (prior estimate was 199k)
+647,000 jobs added in Nov. (prior estimate was 249k)

But they're all Olympics all the time right now, so my wife put the TV on the ABC affiliate, which is a Sinclair station. Just before a commercial break, the anchor teased the new jobs report, "which one economist has called a hot mess." Luckily, I'd been on-line here and at Eschaton, and I knew the report was very good and had exceeded expectations.

Back from commercial, the anchor introduced the segment, which didn't mention any "hot mess" and indeed said that while some economists had been looking for a loss over more than 400,000 jobs, the actual report was over 400,000 jobs added. The reporter grudgingly (in my opinion) conceded the gain was far better for the country.

But the casual viewer who tuned out after the "hot mess" tease probably got the impression that the jobs report was terrible.
