These Canadian truck protests are giving off a distinct French "Yellow Vests" vibe to me.

I can't put my finger on it, but it just seems a little too fake-populist to me.

The French "Yellow Vest" protests were a series of protests in 2018. Protesters wore yellow construction worker style vests for greater visibility. There was not a unified theme to the protests, but a majority seemed to be protesting rising costs of living in the country under President Macron. There were also elements of anti-globalism and anti-immigration that emerged from the "Yellow Vest" protests.

It later came to light that the Yellow Vest protests were being heavily amplified by outside groups, including Russian propagandists who saw it as an opportunity to weaken the Macron government.

Just like the Yellow Vests, there just seems to be something off about these Truck protests. I think there is likely some genuine sentiment behind them, but I can't help to feel there's also an infusion of outside influence who want to weaken the Trudeau government.

It was found that much of the money being donated was from foreign accounts. I think the same is true here. Those rallies and protests must be getting support from Russia.

It's just more focused now. Outside influencers (Russia, China, etc) can't be successful with this rabblerousing unless there is a deep well of organic opposition to tap into and focus. And sometimes that focus can be reached naturally as well, the Tea Party shit comes to mind

Turns out the story (and link) were two years old, and the link was now being used to gather donations from anti-vaxxers.
I thought the Truck protests were right-wing anti-vaxxers (and worse).
Frankly, TFG, Bolsonaro, LaPen, Brexit, Modi, Duterte, that fucker in Hungary...They've soured me on populism.

A couple of things really stood out. The first was the Confederate flag. A Canadian would not fly it.
Another was pissing on the tomb of the unknown soldier. That sounds Russian to me.

global anti-democratic libertarian feudalistic pirates. The Yellow vest movement long silent but revived. Just like they try to pretend antifa is a movement in the U.S. something long silent until revived to attack liberal and actual antifascists.
