The post is here: https://www.democraticunderground.com/100216319133 / "Company (Penzy's) loses 40k customers after calling Republicans 'racist'"
Back in the 2016-ish time frame, Goya's CEO, Robert Unanue, was loud and proud for the Florida Retiree Who Once Was President. The board shut his ass up as customers were boycotting. Undeterred, he was at it again in January 2021, this time telling Faux Nooz the election was rigged and FRWOWP was the rightful president.
We stopped buying their products early in FRWOWP's first and last term when he was vocal in his support. And truth be told, we bought quite a bit their products at our local supermarket.
It is now automatic for us. It has been years since we bought any Goya and likely will be so into the future.

(42,558 posts)and location in New Jersey (according to the address on cans that I looked at) meant they were more friendly to Dems than some of the other options. After Unanue publicly declared his love for Trump I never spent another penny on their stuff.
Ive tried to research how their current sales are doing and all I can ever find are stories about the surge in sales they got from MAGAs immediately after that happened. I wonder how many MAGA pantries are still full of sofrito and mole sauce they are never going to try?

However, they do beckon to me as I wryly smile and gladly pass them by

Before Drumpf became a real threat, when I had sampled The Apprentice and decided he is despicable, I would *run* away from the clothing aisles where his shirts and neckties were!

(65,042 posts)There is a company based in Chicago that makes all the same products at very good quality. No reason to retreat.
We're buying local (so to speak), and getting good stuff for a little less money.

Found all kinds or replacements (and even make my own achiote oil too since Penzey's sells whole annato seeds and also sells Adobo ).

When I can get back to Trader's I'll get theirs instead. No, I don't do mail items bc I have trouble getting pakaged goods delivered to me.
When I get back to cooking beans from scratch then when go elsewhere I can pick up some other grand.
Actually anyone have a another good dried bean brand I can look out for in the future? 👍
