I’m not an expert on that region. In NE Pennsylvania, the mountains are spelled ‘Allegheny,’ but across the New York border, they’re spelled ‘Allegany.’ Though maybe it was something similar with the Catskills.

"Ooh! Ooh! Michael Avenatti is on TV dunking on Trump! He should run for President!" Same thing with Oprah: "Oprah gave a great speech and she's famous! She should run for President!" Avenatti fooled a lot of people, including several MSNBC talking heads who should have known better. But Americans are so in love with celebrity that we often mistake it for competence (Exhibit A: TFG).
