(317,079 posts)some background on Boris Johnson.
How can I say this.. is "Boris"an unusual name for a baby in England?

(105,622 posts)Yes, Boris is an odd name, for all ages. I'm not sure if it was him or his parents who decided to use that rather than Alexander or a variant of it (probably him - his siblings are Jo, short for Joseph, and Rachel, both their first names).
Boris has never been in the top 100, since 1904, and this list looks like about 300 have been in or out, over time: https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/birthsdeathsandmarriages/livebirths/articles/babynamessince1904howhasyoursperformed/2016-09-02
