Trump destroying official Whitehouse documents is a slam dunk indictment.

The committee has the smoking guns with Trumps fingerprints on them. They have the documents he tore up. They have the witnesses who watched Trump tear up the documents and then taped them back together. They have witnesses who saw Trump destroy documents by burning them. This is a big deal.

They have witnesses who I believe would testify they warned Trump time and time again, tearing up, destroying, burning, Whitehouse documents is a federal crime. There is no way Garland cannot prosecute this crime. Not doing so would allow future presidents, staff to destroy records at will.

Trump has no defense in this crime. He can't claim ignorance, he can't blame other people.

One way or another Trump is going to be indicted. I am now 100% convinced.

I will believe it when I see it.

All of the ones screaming about people on DU (like me) who feel the DOJ is doing nothing don’t know any more than the rest of us as to what IS actually being done. They’re all just hoping that something comes down soon.

While I would love to be wrong and will gleefully apologize if I am proven wrong, I don’t think I will ever see Trump in a courtroom, much less in a jail cell.

Below is one of several statutes than can apply. The one below does not require proof of the value of the taken item. Those statutes that require proof of value have higher sentences.

18 U.S. Code §2071. Concealment, removal, or mutilation generally provides:

(a) Whoever willfully and unlawfully conceals, removes, mutilates, obliterates, or destroys, or attempts to do so, or, with intent to do so takes and carries away any record, proceeding, map, book, paper, document, or other thing, filed or deposited with any clerk or officer of any court of the United States, or in any public office, or with any judicial or public officer of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.

(b) Whoever, having the custody of any such record, proceeding, map, book, document, paper, or other thing, willfully and unlawfully conceals, removes, mutilates, obliterates, falsifies, or destroys the same, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both; and shall forfeit his office and be disqualified from holding any office under the United States….

That Obama wrote. He tried to steal artifacts from the Embassy while everyone else was at Normandy.

I wonder if the Queen has checked her jewelry yet? A sleazy con man and petty thief lived in the Whitehouse for 4 years, then slunk out of town like the cowardly grifter he is.

Standing alone, it doesn't rise to the level of "lock him up".

In conjunction with a few dozen obstruction charges, though, and incitement of a seditious insurrection and election fraud and, and, and, it becomes another nail in the coffin.

They couldn't stop Chump from tearing up the memos and other documents. What they DID was they saved all the little bits and pieces and turned them in in ziplock baggies. Somebody in the archives section had to piece them together.

Same with the shredded documents, somebody had to piece them together.
