He was the one who was submitting fake data for Trump's tax returns to Mazars. Ten years of fraud confirmed by a top accounting firm.
Trump may have a legitimate excuse to throw Weisselberg under the bus now, and Weisselberg may be looking forward to losing everything except his moustache. I wonder if this will loosen his tongue.

If the CFO submitted the financial data, Weisselberg has just increased his culpability in this mess.

Other articles mentioned that some of the financial work papers had Trump's personal notes on them so he cannot claim to not seeing the papers/figures.

Seriously, the underlings will get some type of punishment. The higher ups, not so much. That's how the system has always worked. Sacrifice the small folks, give the higher ups a slap on the wrist or maybe a dirty look.
I mean this stuff has been going on decades and its only the fact that TFG was POTUS that this is on the NY DA's radar.

(3,503 posts)will damage TFG's aura, you're sadly mistaken. Affairs, lying, being aloof, getting vaxed or any other repugnant thing you can think of hasn't shaken the hold this person has on a significant segment of our country.
TBH, there's a real anger in a large segment of our society. A lot of politicians (and broadcasters), including TFG, have made careers out of exploiting this anger for their own advantage. They aren't into solving it because then it would remove their power.
For the rest of us, trying to dilute this anger is probably in our best interest. But to be honest, I think you can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink. My only real answer to this dichotomy is to try and extend a helping hand to those in need but to make sure it's not close enough to these folks for them to bite it.

(3,055 posts)was just happy to take the money and look the other way. Weisselberg and his family are damned if he does and damned if he does not. He has not help so he is firmly in the damned if he does not and is pulling for Putin to make this mess go away. Time is of the essences.

(4,846 posts)If we go back a few months, we all felt like nothing has moved forward on the legal front for Trump. But now, everything that were working in the background at that time are now surfacing as the investigations are coming near the end.

(21,408 posts)The Mazar accountant knows almost as much about Trump's dealings as Weisselberg. Throw the book at Weisselberg, then maybe he will flip, if not, throw the crook in jail.

(15,662 posts)will be a fall guy as well. How does a corporation disavow its financial documents over 10 years without having someone(s) down the line that they can blame for discrediting their good standing?

(21,408 posts)In New York you get immunity from prosecution. The Mazar accountant got a get out of jail card because he is flipping on Trump and the kids.

(15,662 posts)anyone else at Mazars will be held culpable or was that person in the highest position involved in the trump org fraud.

(4,011 posts)Aside from legal & criminal actions, banks will start calling his loans on everything, including his foreign holdings. Hopefully, he will need Russkie money from Putin's pals, calls and email to be intercepted by every US agency from the FBI, Treasury and maybe even the NSA!
I also hope this kills that smarmy son-in-laws efforts to gain loans and backing for his foreign adventures with the Saudis and other Gulf potentates. Perhaps the banks will also quickly move to seize his many land assets (Trump Tower, the golf courses, maybe even Mara-doggo!) as collateral for his inability to cover loans. Oh, and you know that Ivanka, the sons and even Jared signed docs made up by Mazar's staff.
Man, he and his entire family are finally in deep shit, regardless of criminal charges sure to come.
Go USA justice!
