BREAKING: In a letter to Congress, the National Archives has officially confirmed that boxes taken from the White House by the former president included CLASSIFIED NATIONAL SECURITY documents.
A series of disclosures have raised new questions about whether former President Donald J. Trump followed federal record-keeping laws or mishandled classified information after he left office.

so now he'll take it to the supreme court and thomas will rule it's not too late and trump can still declassify the docs--especially the ones that mention ginni thomas!
trump will have a pay-per-view as he declassifies each document he ever saw while simultaneously dj-ing in his pajamas in the midst of some moron's wedding party at (night)marealogo

(86,753 posts)Deemed classified but shouldn't have been. The only reason they were classified was because they are evidence of criminal activity. Think the issues Lt. Col. Vindman described regarding classified info.
Either way, they are evidence of criminal activity.

(2,828 posts)and it really scares me to imagine what Putin knows about our National Security right now. Is this why he's playing this type of wargame with Ukraine? How much does he know about our troop strength, deployments, readiness, hardware (including tanks, etc.), cybertracking and cyberhacking. Has he figured out a tactical plan to exploit any weaknesses we might have? As many months as Trump has been out of office, those NSC documents could have been among the first Putin might have seen. He's had plenty of time to come up with a tactical plan. And that's right up his alley.
Heck, Trump could have given him all the info on our satellites and who knows what. Notice that one group of papers that are missing are from the "meeting" he had with the Russians where the American reporters, translators, etc., were thrown out and only the Russians were allowed to be in the room.
And then there's the way he looked after the Helsinki meeting... and again, no paperwork, no translations, no notes, etc..
For these alone he should be in prison asap and interrogated until he gives up the information on all of this.

(10,049 posts)After the first few briefings, they would have realized that he didnt understand anything but big charts with two or three items on them. After Helsinki, they would have recognized that Trump was in Putins pocket. Why give top-secret information to a man who would simply share it with an enemy? They could have given him some small stuff to keep him happy. Thats my hope anyway.

(894 posts)Are these documents the RTumpster took hoping to cover his sizeable backside???
Or are these documents with information the RTumpster hoped to leverage...
Classified documents, foreign or domestic???
Regarding RTump cronies, or his growing enemies list???
Regarding RTump properties, or other investments/interests???
Nothing the RTumpster does is unintentional...

(21,385 posts)65 days ago the select committee gave a criminal referral to DOJ for Mark Meadows.
37 days ago the Michigan AG gave a criminal referral to the Feds re: the fake electors.
Add this referral to the list. The National Archives should have done the investigation itself.
The main reason Trump took and destroyed documents was to protect himself from being indicted, making money from the classified info is secondary.
There is more classified info either out there or destroyed that has not been turned over yet. I know, lots of time, we can wait for Trump's lawyers to go over the documents.
So someone is pouring gas all over a building, so what, plenty of time, we can wait until he lights the match.

A New Report Adds Evidence That Trump Was a Russian Asset
He helped Putin manipulate the U.S. election in 2020, as he did in 2016.
As to Russia, the report leaves no doubt: In 2020, as in 2016, President Putin authorized, and a range of Russian government organizations conducted, influence operations to help Trump and hurt his Democratic opponent. For example, Shortly after the 2018 midterm elections, Russian intelligence cyber actors attempted to hack organizations primarily affiliated with the Democratic Party. Then, in late 2019, Russias military intelligence service, the GRU, conducted a phishing campaign against subsidiaries of Burisma holdings, likely in an attempt to gather information related to President Bidens family. Throughout the 2020 election, agents connected to the Russian Federal Security Service, FSB, planted negative stories about Biden. Internet operatives working for the Kremlin, including the troll farm that had boosted Trump in 2016, continued to promote Trump and his commentary, including repeating his political messaging.
Attacks on Biden and his son, Hunter, were part of this operation. Through US officials and prominent US individuals, some of whom were close to former President Trump and his administration, the report says Russias intelligence services repeatedly spread unsubstantiated or misleading claims about President Biden and his familys alleged wrongdoing related to Ukraine. In this way, Trumps circle laundered the Russian-planted stories, which were then recirculatedand promoted by Russias online proxiesas American news.

(10,202 posts)You gotta wonder what Trump still has hidden at Mary-go-loco.
So, how much of it did he copy already? Yeah, it's illegal to copy classified documents but it's illegal to even have it at Mary-go-loco.
Then how much of it did he send to Putin already? I mean he knew they were coming to confiscate it. He probably just took a picture of all of it and, sold it then, sent it electronically to his pal shorty Putin.
So, now we know what secrets Putin knows. Putin has to act quickly on the secrets Trump provided before America changes it, recalls people or otherwise makes the info obsolete. I wonder if Putin's threat against the Ukraine has something to do with those secrets.

(2,218 posts)The documents could be memorabilia. Probably not.
The documents could be stuff he didn't want Democrats to know. Likely.
The documents could be stuff he could sell to the highest bidder. Likely.
The documents could be stuff that will be worth a fortune in a few years. Possible.
The documents could be useful for blackmail. Very likely.
The documents could be stuff he could trade Putin for to get a Trump hotel in Moscow. My second best guess.
It could be plans, names of agents, locations of money caches, technical information, mineral surveys or salacious details he wants to have read to him at bed time.
I am sure that there are a lot of other possibilities, it might even be stuff he could pull out at the last minute to effect an election before it is gone through carefully and shown to not mean what he said it meant.
Considering how he doubled down and bet on a lot of things that didn't pan out, the odds are good that he has the wrong boxes or they were not as good a set of secrets as he hoped they would be. It might just be the collected nonsense he has proving he was spied on by Hillary while he was in the White house.
My best guess is that it is all compromat. The Republican party is way to loyal to this bastard for there not to be a good collection of compromat somewhere.

(2,315 posts)had some evil lizard-person sneak those CLASSIFIED and TOP SECRET papers into my bigly, bestest house with so many of the most beautiful gilded rooms that I can't find where I hid the rest of them. I have so many toilets - probably the most lovely toilets in the world - that I can't keep flushing them fast enough. It takes 10 flushes each to get the paper down. It is criminal that Biden ruined American toilets. Shameful and probably illegal.

(855 posts)but some may be surprised at the number of "embeds" in simple pictures on just about any social media.
Used to be a good (German) program 10-15 years ago called Masker that did a great job embedding items in pictures or other media til TPTB got wind of them.
Once the picture had way too much data, it aroused suspicion in some searches. So those who did encryption found a way to break the data into many smaller bits, sequentially name them and allow you to DL a number of different pictures from different sites then decrypt and reassemble the data.
Of course, today, google and bing and Meta have programs that can recognize this encryption and stop the transfer...most times!
There was an old joke about two chemists, Smith and Jones(!) brought into the CEOs office. He told Smith he wanted an acid made that wsa so strong it would eat through anything. Then he told Jones to find a container to hold it.
Someone will always find a way around anything.
