So the executive branch of the state will ignore a court order to meet some deadline… but it will jail the chief executive?

Seems unlikely

claim it was impossible to create a map meeting the constitutional parameters required by the Ohio Supreme Court, but the League of Women Voters showed it WAS INDEED possible, and they supplied the court with exactly such a map.

https://www.cleveland.com/news/2022/02/redistricting-plaintiffs-want-to-force-ohio-republicans-to-explain-why-they-violated-ohio-supreme-court-order.html

The OOC filing is the most pointed of the three sets of state filings on Friday, asking the court to demand individual members of the redistricting commission explain why they shouldn’t be held in contempt of court. While saying the court has the authority to develop other penalties, it cites a section of state law that says those found in contempt can be subject to fines or jail time.

I found this interesting:

While the state constitution has language limiting the Ohio Supreme Court from drawing state legislative maps, Steinglass said there are no such restrictions on a federal court. That means the federal court could end up ordering new maps, either those submitted by parties in the case or by hiring mapping experts.

It would be REALLY interesting to see what Federal mapping experts would come up with ….

Ohio with absolute impunity and have ignored court orders in the past without any consequences. They simply disregard rulings that contradict their desired results. I can't imagine anything altering this pattern now.
