(4,298 posts)Correct me if I am wrong but this is not a result that definitively rules out ivermectin based on doing harm.
I am not a virologist so someone with qualification correct me. In fact, twice as many subjects with standard treatment alone were intubated (8 vs 4).
I am not a proponent of ivermectin or any treatment for COVID other that what the science has shown and the accepted protocol being used by the CDC/WHO. So please do not accuse me of being and anti-vaxxer. I am twice vaxxed and once boosted. Just trying to understand these results.

(4,888 posts)Sounds like they had mostly vaccinated patients, which would probably mitigate the severity of disease regardless of the treatment they received. But they saw no improved outcomes using Ivermectin compared to the control groups.
They did see a lot of side effects from Ivermectin.
It would be useful to see a comparison of vaxxed and unvaxxed groups, treated with ivermectin alone, versus the standard treatments. It would be hard to isolate the effect of Ivermectin with these other variables in play. But it would also be an ethical dilemma.
