Senator Rand Paul's son charged with assaulting flight attendant

Put this asshole on a no fly list

. - The son of U.S. Sen. Rand Paul is accused of assaulting a flight attendant during a trip from Kentucky to North Carolina.

The Charlotte Observer reported over the weekend that 19-year-old William Paul was charged with misdemeanor assault on a female by aggressive physical force. The paper had previously reported that he also was charged with underage drinking, disorderly conduct and being intoxicated and disruptive.

The newspaper quoted Lt. Shawn Crooks as saying all the charges against Paul were filed the day of the incident, Jan. 5.

Oh, Rand’s kid committed a misdemeanor. Your son or mine would’ve committed a f..ing felony. More bullshit. And they wonder why people keep raising hell.

It can be a felony, but not all such charges are.
I looked it up back when this disruptive behavior started to get too common.
However, putting hands on any flight operations crew is a FELONY.
So, why was he only charged with the disruption misdemeanor? If he touched a flight attendant, that instantly rises to a felony.
It's not just this punk. They're simply not maxxing out the possible charges against these tools.

Now, this was 9 years ago, so there wasn't a rash of incidents that might require nipping with severe consequences.
If he did this in '21, he might have gotten smacked harder.

first of all. And he was probably pegged as a drunk and entitled kid, not somebody who was trying to take the flight down.

Knowing how douchey his dad is NOW doesn't help, but this is also an old story.

In the sense of being mean, snooty, and entitled, I mean. Don't know if his daddy ever actually assaulted a female.

In NC, that probably is a misdemeanor.

Now for the fun part: because he did this on a commercial airliner, the Separate Sovereigns doctrine says the feds can also charge him with assaulting a flight crew member, and that's a felony with a 20-year maximum prison sentence.

and incident is. If you want to draw a line between this and Rand Paul's position on 'no-fly' that's fine - but then do so.
