(12,618 posts)Except for the fact that Russia has built up hundreds of thousands of troops along Ukraine's borders in what can best be described as an attack formation, yeah, there's no evidence of that at all.
And calling Russia out on it is proof that Russia is the victim here.
I was sympathetic to Snowden back when he had his debut but he's long since proven himself to be another Russian tool.

(4,345 posts)President Obama's Administration's actions are why he is in Russia instead of in some other country.
Also, if you do not recall, he pointed out the spying that the NSA was doing here in the US. Is
that now acceptable? Here's a review of what Snowden revealed:
Lastly, for the sake of completeness, Snowden admitted his call on the invasion was wrong:

(1,602 posts)Here is a "hero" of freedom and transparency, willing to share his every last critical thought of the United States of America, but he doesn't think publishing his thoughts on autocratic Russia's invasion of democratic Ukraine is useful?
USEFUL TO WHO?
It should be plainly obvious that his thoughts only get published if they are useful to Russia. Because he's a propagandist for Russia.
And btw, he is absolutely in Russia by choice. Fleeing justice is a choice. The laws he broke in the US are just laws so don't give me that political prisoner garbage.

And, no, it is not acceptable to info dump unredacted classified information to satisfy your own sense of right and wrong. Edward Snowden is not batman, alright?

(4,345 posts)evidence, please.
It does not make your argument is valid just because you present strongly felt (but so far fact-free) allegations and objections to his whistle-blowing.
Are you even familiar with the situation?
Are you fine with the level of spying that the NSA is/was doing in the US?
In what world do you think that the NSA's malfeasance would have been addressed if Snowden had not done
what he did?
I'm open to your arguments if you can prove them. My guess is that you cannot, but I'll remain open.

The National Security Agencys bulk collection of Americans phone records was unlawful, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit ruled on Sept. 2.
A unanimous three-judge panel for the Ninth Circuit found that the warrantless collection of call metadata violated the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) and was possibly unconstitutional under the Fourth Amendment. The NSAs call-records program officially ended in 2015 after Congress passed the USA FREEDOM Act.

Is it to be inferred that your position is that the NSA's bulk data collection is actually legal?
If that is not your position, do you prefer that the governmental agencies of the US remain within their legal bounds?
How do you imagine that that could be accomplished?

(43 posts)You say Snowden was simply talking about the exact date of the invasion.
But in a subsequent hissy faith, Snowden himself said he "called it wrong".

(27,064 posts)Now what do you hav to say for yourself? Are you still sure about who are the bad guys and sho are the good guys?
betsuni
(28,719 posts)He can't tell who the good guys and bad guys are. During the Obama administration we constantly heard about government surveillance, drone warfare, bombing weddings, warmongering, empire building etc., and all those topics completely disappeared after Trump was elected. Not a peep! All I've ever heard Snowden say about the Trump administration were observations about Trump's personality. Anybody know if he's attributed many diabolical plots to Republicans? I tried Googling but the only criticism I could find was about Trump not pardoning him.
Now he thinks Biden is some sort of IC puppet warmonger. It's not even both sides. It's all about demonizing Democrats.
And I don't believe his story about "accidentally" ending up in Russia because Obama was, like, so mean. Bullshit.
Martin68
(27,064 posts)Assange's side, and China's side. I don't get it. Is it a knee-jerk distrust of the American government? Just an automatic contrarian view of world events? Or is there a hidden authoritarian side in many so-called "liberals?" It's like Firesign Theatre's "Everything you know is Wrong has become mainstream.

(28,719 posts)(anti-American meaning anti-Democratic Party, believing liberals/Democrats the true roadblock to progress and corrupted by campaign contributions), believing every lie and conspiracy theory about Democrats because no giving the benefit of the doubt to Democrats, ever, they're evil. Extremely disappointing. All of them were highly educated. Educated doesn't mean they have any damn common sense. They wanted to be part of a holier-than-thou club.

(43 posts)If Russia had not invaded, Snowden lovers would have given this tweet enormous "bandwidth" in the form of "Edward told you so" comments.
By the way, Snowden said he would have been "spectacularly wrong" if Russia invaded. You conveniently erased that spectacularly qualifier. I understand why you did it. If you admit that Snowden was spectacularly wrong, then you have less room to talk about too much "bandwidth".

(1,602 posts)I don't follow Snowden's every tweet so I didn't see the one where he apologized. I want to judge the quality of this apology myself. Too many people offer non-apology apologies.
