I cast my ballot yesterday after roughly an hour's wait at the polls. Others who are casting early votes or mailing in a ballot, please report back here.

(3,073 posts)1 hour wait. Almost no line at NBC City Hall now however- much lighter turnout then yesterday.

(5,158 posts)We both voted for Obama/Biden and a straight Democratic ticket. We didn't have to wait too long, and were in and out of there pretty quickly.

(30,947 posts)All I need to do now is drop it into the mail. I saw on TV all the lines at the polling places. As I have a back problem and cannot stand for long, I quickly sent in my application for an absentee ballot.

(44,974 posts)I remember there being some lines (short) during regular voting. But no lines for early voting.
In and out in five minutes.
I am in TX.

(85 posts)Here in Texas, three votes for President Obama and Democrats down ballot. I voted green or libertarian for races without a Democratic candidate. I left unopposed repukes blank. No lines at all, only took a few minutes.

(44,974 posts)I haven't seen any GOTV efforts.
Presumably because democratic party gives up on TX from the start.
lobointexas
(85 posts)and help from the National Party. I read that Texas has one of the lowest voter turnouts in the nation, something like 54%. I would bet a majority of those that don't vote could be convinced to vote for Democrats.
BTW, we did receive a call on the 22nd from the Democrats of Comal County telling us that early voting started, what precinct we were in and to please vote.
LisaL
(44,974 posts)they should start with having some before making it better.
Seriously, though, it appears to me democrats here give up before they even start.
Surely we can improve it at least a bit.

(23,727 posts)I went about 4:00 because earlier in the day the line was out the town hall and into the parking lot, and they had a snake line inside. The poll volunteer inside said he had been doing this for 12 years and this was the biggest crowds ever. All of the voting booths were filled and you had to wait until one opened up. I would normally be thrilled to see so many people voting, but I live in a very red and non-diverse district; mostly older white folks. So I hope the repugs aren't coming out in big numbers too. By the way, I'm an older white folk and my vote went for Obama.

(3,436 posts)My wife, kids, and I voted last week! Of course the boys insisted we vote for Obama, so we obliged. You know we have to teach them early on. I wish every state made voting this easy. No voter suppression, intimidation, or touch screen manipulation.

(10,171 posts)At our polling place in Appleton, WI. You know, the Appleton Rmoney kept mentioning in the debates, but my husband and I can't remember him ever being here.
No wait at our polling place, and VERY busy even last week. A friend of mine working there said they were getting 500+ a day since Oct. 22. Registration was right there as well.

(272 posts)... in California, which is heavily blue, so it doesn't matter much in our electoral college system, but still... I voted. And, according to the official website, my ballot was received and its status is good. I don't care what ails ya, voting is better than chicken soup.
Oh, and I voted for Barack Obama. And AGAINST Prop 32, which would allow corporations to fund political campaigns, but effectively prohibit unions from doing so. The lies in the political ads I see on TV is mind-boggling.

(28,873 posts)I showed them my voter card so I don't know if they were asking for photo ID
like some reprehensible Reeps in Williamson County and other parts of Texas were!
Remember, our new photo ID law was ruled against by the higher court and Abbott
will take it to what is supposed to be a majority friendly SCOTUS (yuk).
