Is anyone watching the Michael Barisane trial on the Law & Crime Network?
Michael was a horse trainer of note. He was unhappy with a lady with horses on his farm, and both had been in contact with lawyers. Michael opted to avoid the potential for a civil trial over their disagreements, by shooting Lauren Kanarek twice in the chest.
She survived, and has been on the witness stand for parts of two days. The prosecutor is doing a solid job. The defense attorney is frustrated, because his client really has no way to excuse shooting the woman. Hence, Barisane appears to be trying to convince the jury that he is legally "insane" with his behaviors at the defense table. It should be interesting when the defense puts on its case.

(10,885 posts)That's at least the name on Verizon, Channel 678.
Googling "Law & Order Network" just gives me info on SVU episodes.

I watch it live on youtube, as I don't have "regular" tv.

(10,885 posts)the L&C Network on Verizon.
I've been hoping a crime network would be showing the Anthony Todt* trial (if they ever get past all the delays), but it doesn't seem to be on L&C schedule.
*Anthony Todt, the Colchester, CT physical therapist accused of killing his wife and three children in their Florida home

(10,885 posts)I have family living in Colchester, CT, and they knew AT's family. They will not speak of them, however. Due to the violent nature of the crime as well as AT's demeanor since, the (relatively small) community has taken a very protective stance about the family in order to prevent gossip and rumors poisoning their images. There's a Facebook discussion page but the organizers are cautious as to who is allowed access.
I'll be watching too (presuming it's televised).

(10,749 posts)His name is Barisone.
Although not mentioned in this post, the woman has been described as an Olympic Bronze Medalist. She isn't. She has a certificate from the US Dressage Federation that she has achieved bronze level status. This is more like a participation award based on finishes in competitions.
It's possible the defense will bring up the issue that the woman and the boyfriend were trespassing and that at some point in the altercation the boyfriend had Barisone in a headlock while the woman was beating him.
Haven't been watching the trial.
The reality these days is that there could be thousands of sides to every story - no matter what the story is about. The victim, the alleged perpetrator, and the thousands of commenters.

(73,605 posts)her described as an Olympic bronze medalist. That hasn't been said in the trial, though the defendent's 2008 role has been said on record numerous times. Likewise, although the defense attorney may attempt to say they were trespassing, the evidence put forth so far closes the door on any chance that could stick, as it isn't true. This is one of the advantages of watching a trial, rather than believing "information" (rumors). Her boyfriend indeed held the defendent on the ground, after he shot Kanarek twice in the chest, and shot at but missed the boyfriend. The idea that she beat him at that point would be a tortured effort by the defense to justify their client.

(14,954 posts)The traitor Donald John Trump, Sr. must stand trial in public, with the entire proceedings televised live for gavel-to-gavel coverage.
Upon conviction and sentencing, whether to imprisonment or corporal or capital punishment, it would also do good for the country to witness the entire penalty phase in real time. Like Mussolini and his mistress, images to etch on memory and history.
And Uncle Sam! Dont hire the company that installed the video surveillance equipment at the Metropolitan Correctional Center to watch Jeffrey Epstein. Complete access is the least due We the People.

(73,605 posts)It seems clear that there is enough evidence already documented to charge, try, and convict Trump.
