Perhaps it's impact will invalidate the "statistical integrity" of certain polls such as the national popular vote, which is in and of itself meaningless. Less polls in a year where the numbers have been all over the place at once would be a good thing.

I am new to the board and I am hoping, praying that our President can pull it out, but has there been any talk anywhere that if "Sandy" causes lots of damage, that maybe the election would be delayed a week??

No, they will not be delaying the election for any reason.

It should be done by the time Election Day arrives, anyway.

...which means we may not have accurate measurements of where the race stands as we come down to the wire -- just the Corporate Media blovating about "Mitt-mentum," the "Romney surge," and "too close to call."
