You know Sandy will be a night mare....but you know all the News coverage...

We are eight days away from the election. Now all the news stations will be covering the Sandy story! Also The President's response to it. Obama will have air time as he goes to the hardest hit areas.
Just think! The GOP must be going bat shit.
Don't get me wrong. I live on the East Coast. I wish every one to stay safe!
Just saying!

3. Let's please not talk about this as if it were a good thing

I am sure Obama does not see very much positive in this potentially horrific event. I would strongly advise deleting this thread.

This is a natural event which will have many consequences, many undesirable, but no reason not to recognize a possible 'positive' coming out of it, that is, people seeing again the strength, wisdom and good judgment of President Obama.

It is not the Holocaust.

5. It does not help us one bit to celebrate the political implications of an event that could kill many

Believe me, if it looks at all like Obama's supprters are celebrating that political advantage you think we will get will disappear very quickly. It is absolutely wrong to celebrate political advantage that comes out of an event that could leave millions homeless and result in many deaths.

something many Dems fail to do too often.

fyi, I live on the East Coast, as do my daughters, one in NJ, obligated to work tomorro, as 'essential' in a health care facility.

8. No you are not recognizing facts, you are making assumptions

We do not know how this event is going to effect Obama's poll numbers, you do not know as a fact which direction this event will take his poll numbers. Katrina certainly did not help Bush's poll numbers, now granted Bush was totally incompetent in dealing with that disaster and I have no doubt Obama will be much more engaged, but no matter how engaged he is we don't know how the public will perceive his performance.

It is not smart to brag that we will get political advantage from this tragedy, doing so only increases the liklihood that this will harm us politically.

I DO plead guilty to assuming that President Obama will NOT be 'totally incompetent in dealing with' ths disaster.

Facts.

10. Sure the news stations will be covering it, but you do not know how they will cover it

I assume Obama will be competent in dealing with the disaster, but I do not assume the media will be competent in covering the disaster. The political implications of this are not as clear as you would like them to be and it is not wise or compassionate to be bragging about political advantage from a storm that is currently threatening the homes and lives of millions.

Will the poles be open and if they have to close, for how long? Will people even care about voting if they are more concerned with their lives and property? Will Sandy cause more havoc in red states or blue states? I think all of these questions are valid.

But in the mean time, I hope that the msm doesn't make it all about them. ... Yeah, I almost said that with a straight face...

Who better to keep us safe as this President can.Who better to give us the aid that we will need.
Remember last year the hurricane that tore up the East Coast. I can't remember it's name. However I do remember Eric Cantor's remarks....when his own STATE was hit badly. He wanted to withhold aid until they were paid for by other cuts! That is the GOP response! The same one R&R have.
Our President will act with dignity, strength and calm thru this crisis. From all that I have read he is already on top of the situation.
Faux news can spin as they may. However people will see The strength of this President's response to this disaster.
