Last minute tip for folks in Sandy's path...

if you have a washer / dryer in your house or apartment, wash every pair of undies you can get your hands on prior to losing power.

(Lesson learned from Irene )

I don't drink coffee or other caffeinated drinks, but I found my darling husband got a bit cranky after a couple of days without coffee. Luckily our neighbor had an extra french press. We bought one of our own after Irene, which also came in handy after we lost power for another 5 days after a freak snow storm last October.

We are very lucky to have city water and never lost the ability to run the taps. Many of our friends were not so lucky, but they were at least able to stop by and fill their containers at our house.

The French press is great for cold-brewed coffee. I like it even better than the coffee made with hot water. Mild and yummy!
