fight to turn it blue, or even just purple. It is too important this election to let people elect reds.

(653 posts)a popular vote win when Obama wins the EV. GOP Governors could try to overturn the EV for their state if it went Obama's way. In that way, every vote everywhere counts.
Even if they didn't try to pull that EV switch, a popular vote win gives Obama a better mandate. You don't want to give ammunition to John Boehner, if they keep the house, to obstruct for another two years.
Leave nothing to chance and hammer Romney for lying to you and the GOP for obstructing jobs.

(39,961 posts)so that isn't even an issue. Please feel free to bet me on that one. I can cover a bet up to $10,000, and I'm not even kidding.
Bet me.

(39,961 posts)That Arizona has a chance to swing very much and maybe be purple soon, too. It is reality, and John Birchers are very pissed off about losing such a key state.

(3,069 posts)Is what I believe w8liftinglady was saying. She, in particular, has been busting ass, especially regarding our senate race. Just so you know.

(39,961 posts)Thanks to everyone that is busting ass. My state exhausts me, but I'm not going to give up. I love that about Texans - ya'll never give up, either.

(4,835 posts)A good one too, quite popular. Somehow all of the other democrats are 'in name only'.
We will go red this time, but I think right after the election is a good time to start looking at replacing at least one house member (democrat opponent got a DUI he won't win this time). I'd like to see less house republicans in the mid-terms.
There isn't much presence here during this election. Not much chance of turning this bright red state at all.

I agree totally. I actually didn't cast a vote in that race. Herb Rule is NOT the kind of "Democrat" we would want there. Better to let Griffin just have it for two more years and work to get an actual progressive Democrat elected in 2014.

(39,961 posts)control of the House. Folks, we have to play football and chess this election. You win neither with having fewer pieces, even if they aren't the pieces you like.
Blanks
(4,835 posts)That's a given. I think the democrat (Herb Rule) is a good guy. He just isn't going to win this time (the DUI doesn't help). His opponent is a well-funded tea party member.
I think Obama is polling at less than 40% in Arkansas. I'm not going to let that keep me from voting, but I don't expect to overcome that at this stage in the game.
I hope that after this election more emphasis will be put on pointing out; that the 'tea party controlled house' held the economy of this country hostage in the hopes of political gain.
Throw out the ones that remain in the mid-terms. Hopefully they will lose some of them this time. Tim Griffin probably isn't going to be one of them that loses.
Blanks
(4,835 posts)I just don't expect him to win. The 'Times' had a pretty good write up on him.

(52 posts)FL and I see much more R/R lawn signs and bumper stickers. While I'm in a retirement suburb, we get out quite a bit and it is the same. Oh, and my Obama/Biden sign has been trampled a couple of times. I just keep putting it back up! And instead of just one, I have three up now.
