The truly funny thing about CNN is...

The righties still consider it a total left-wing liberal channel.

Off course, they think that of any channel that doesn't prominently feature Hannity or Hume. Any program where any person for any reason says something positive about a Democrat or criticizes a Tea Bagger is just a total Communist Socialist Marxist Libtard lefty shill.

It's quite sad, actually. Fox is the reason. Literally...these people on the right just completely forgot what "news" is supposed to be, and America suffers for it.

thing about the storm is Romney's campaign schedule.
Nothing about the fact that he says for the government to help hurricane victims is immoral and should be privatised.
Nothing about a hurricane being a profit generator and not a national emergency.
I have pretty much stopped watching CNN and this seals the deal. No more point to watching.

Even up to 2 years ago I watched it constantly. I knew of the tilt right but decided I wanted to know what the 'mainstream' news was saying. Seriously though, lately they HAVE been as bad as Fox. As in, they are now equals with Fox. I can't even stand 5 minutes of watching it anymore. Now I rotate between my Canadian channels and MSNBC (although was disgusted with Chris and Ed after the first debate so now have cut back on them as well).

2. One of the great triumphs of the conservative movement...

...is how they were able to cow the networks and other news sources, both in the days of Nixon and Reagan, into "moving toward the center" (i.e. tilting conservative) but then, instead of savoring their victory, simply kept up the complaints unabated. The end result was that not only was the media transformed into the lapdog of successive Republican administrations, but that even the slightest bit of criticism that might inadvertently emerge from said sources could be immediately dismissed as "bias from the well-known liberal media." If you've successfully redefined the most cautiously-"centrist," Republican-friendly news departments as hotbeds of the big bad liberal media, what chance is there for truly-progressive sources to ever be given a national soapbox?

I think RepubliCON media has become a victim of their own success. CNN and others who try to imitate Fox, are far, far from the center. They are sounding more and more like crazy wack a doodles. Denying the truth, ignoring big stories, they are so frequently wrong about current events and so dumb and boring that viewership is slipping away. Soon, only fools will watch corporate news. And the truth will slowly make a come back.

people are flocking to the internet for their news. So, as long as they don't take over that too ( ) we should be okay. Eventually. I hope.

The ratings say it all...more people would rather watch a toothless guy chasing hedgehogs around than watch the crap that CNN puts out. They deserve all the scorn and ridicule they've been getting here for the years of lazy stenography. As you point out, the wingnuts think it's "left-leaning" (which it never has been) while the rest of us think it's junk. It just shows that when you try to play the "middle of the road" you get run over by both sides...

10. on NPR, on my way to work through the storm..

the call in show (which is somehow news-like?) was a stream of heavily accented hard right callers, one notably railing against the media pretending that the Democrats did not in fact create the current economic situation. I did catch a glimpse of actual news on the other 3 local NPR's, but barely.

13. Remember, BushCo replaced much of the Board

As part of his massive "Brownie"-like repayment to cronies, W replaced much of the Board at the Corporation for Public Broadcasting with Republicans, giving them the mission to make PBS more "centrist," because they were criticizing his warring. I rarely even listen to PBS anymore as a results. The reporters who used to be fair and honest turned right-wing cheerleaders to keep their jobs.

14. The direction of newz is all about revenue...
Mon Oct 29, 2012, 08:55 AM

The only bias newz organizations have is how much ads they can sell, look how fast Beck was shown off of Fox when they could barely sell ad space for his show. Look how CNN/Headline News first hired Beck to do TV, look how MSNBC put Michael Savage on TV. Look how fast MSNBC fired Donahue. Sure some places have a political preference, but their biggest preference is cash. That is why the newz has turned into almost a type of scripted reality show.

As for Fox, they are just a continuation of Inside Edition/Hard Copy/A Current Affair tabloid TV.

I was getting more and more fed up with CNN (and MSNBC at times) and all the hatred being spewed all over FB and every other outlet, so I went searching for a place where I could connect with other sane individuals.

Thank goodness for DU and the non-crazies.

18. The thing that I don't get
Mon Oct 29, 2012, 09:30 AM
Oct 2012

Is why CNN's running after Fox.

They aren't going to get wingnuts to switch from Fox to CNN.
They aren't going to get wingnuts to stop claiming they're "Communist News Network".
They are driving away viewers who aren't wignuts.

The logical thing for them to do would be to move left to get viewers.

Of course, that assumes the people running the show are being logical and not partisan. Which in the end explains why they're doing something so stupid.
