We are getting serious major wind from Sandy in West Michigan

There is a very strong frigid wind, and the news says it's part of Sandy. I can't even imagine what's going on on the east coast if we're getting this much wind so far away.

Stay safe, everyone!

I'm in the bullseye path. We've got 35mph winds and sideways rain and are in a state of emergency. HopeHoops Oct 2012 #10

The winds aren't a continuous wall from the eye outward. If it's calm now, expect more gusts later

So, be careful if you have to travel

It is a little windy again here, but nothing like on the east coast.

All is good.

I went out to run a few errands and ended up coming home because it had quickly taken a turn for the worse, and the wind is both strong and freezing cold, and my daughter and I weren't dressed warm enough for it after it hit.

Nothing near what they will be later, but strong enough that the dog and I were dodging rolling trash bins on our morning walk. Also wind chill in the 20s. Brrrr...

We live in an old neighborhood with lots of trees, so I'm anticipating we'll lose power with the first big gusts. Last summer's derecho knocked us out for an entire week.

Oh, and that's juts the beginning. It will be getting much worse. On the plus side for you, it's expected to bang a right and head up through State College on its way to NY.
