Checked Nate Silver's website & got basically "nothing" because Big Storms aren't generally an issue, and he states this.
I live in Florida which doesn't help me feel very good either, so my question is this.
Obama will speak today about Sandy & I'm sure FEMA will come up, FEMA IS a Government program, and Romney denounced it before. But it was back in 2011 I think, not sure.
Should Obama produce a quick ad about what Romney said about FEMA or is that to "in your face!"
This coming from a person who is a Liberal. Does this help OR hurt either Obama or Romney?

(1,846 posts)Obama campaign should stay far away from ads or any kind of politicization of the storm. There are plenty of media and others who will make the public aware of Romney's position on FEMA. IMO, the more focus on the storm and less campaigning that occurs on Obama side the better for him.

(223 posts)but what should be done, and likely will be is backchannel messaging to the media to get that immoral comment out, and once the storm dies down some surrogate work.

(18 posts)I don't think he should run an ad, but Democrats should mention it in the media, and hope that they run with it.

(15,435 posts)I was thinking ads wouldn't be good, but I was also thinking Repukes WOULD run ads.
I'm on the side of "no ads" was just wondering if others were on the same page.

(39,343 posts)He will, on the other hand look (and act) Presidential and this will make R$ even more desperate.
Not that I think its a good thing, but it will make him look good. His surrogates will still be able to campaign for him. Plus people are now reminded that R$ is against FEMA.
Win, win and on next Tuesday..BIG WIN

(9,933 posts)Of course FEMA should be discussed. What better time to remind people what the government can do for those in need? You don't even need to remind people of romneys position on FEMA. Everyone is aware republicans want to remove gov programs that help the needy and shrink gov while democrats represent preserving FEMA

(1,451 posts)We can be surrogates on our own. All we need to do is go to other sights and say what Ex Governor Smarmy said. And don't forget House Republican Eric Cantor. This establishes a link for the Party. When someone doesn't believe you, there is plenty of tape. Have your reference sources ready. Make sure before every statement you express your compassion for those in the path of Hurricane Sandy. Then hit them with you are glad your President is in charge, because under the last Republican administration it was an American disaster with hurricane Katrina. And this new Republican Congress and Gov. Romney is just as bad. They want to shrink FEMA to non existence.
