Romney's solution: replace FEMA assistance with privatized high-interest loans

Romney believes that the Federal government should not be involved with disaster relief, that the private sector should just take over.

We've already seen what the private sector reaction to disasters tends to be: PRICE-GOUGING. Indeed, many rethugs actually defend this practice, falling back on their "supply & demand" bullshit.

So if the private sector were to take over disaster relief, it's very easy to see what would be the result - extremely high-interest loans. Need some money to replace your roof? Simple, just accept this loan with exorbitantly high interest rates. Don't worry, your approval is guaranteed - nobody will be turned down for a disaster loan! Of course, you'll be in debt for decades to come, hope you weren't planning on saving any money for retirement.

It can't be a serious campaign.

Romney is fulfilling all the standard "evil rich" stereotypes with a gusto I just can't grasp.

Why doesn't he grow a Snidely Whiplash moustache?
