Lawmaker seeks pajamas-in-public ban
SHREVEPORT, La. Caddo Parish District 3 Commissioner Michael Williams doesnt care to see people in their PJs, at least not at a shopping center, restaurant or anywhere else in public.
Williams said after seeing a group of young men at a local Walmart wearing pajama pants that revealed one young mans private parts, he decided to push for an ordinance that would prohibit wearing pajama pants in public.
Pajamas are designed to be worn in the bedroom at night, Williams said. If you cant (wear pajamas) at the Boardwalk or courthouse, why are you going to do it in a restaurant or in public? Today its pajamas, Williams said. Tomorrow its underwear. Where does it stop?
Khiry Tisdem, of Shreveport, has no problem going out in his Family Guy Stewie pajama pants.
I wear my (pajama) pants anywhere, Tisdem said. Im an American, and I can wear my clothes anywhere I want. Im a grown man. I pay my own bills, so I can wear my clothes the way I want. I dont know why its an issue.

(22,165 posts)maybe we should have the PJ police walking the streets ... come on if the degree of coverage conforms to local standards for modesty/ acceptability why the hell would anyone care?

(111,359 posts)he should have phoned the cops and gotten the guy busted for weenie wagging.
I honestly don't give a shit how anyone else looks. Some look great. Some look like they've got a grudge against themselves. Most of us are somewhere in the middle, muddling along with what we can afford and what's clean.
Screw the fashion police. Let them find honest work. Surely there are some ditches needing to be dug.

(31,532 posts)what difference if they're covered with flannel or denim. Besides, I've seen some regular street clothes that are pretty much obscene.
Having said that, I must admit that I wonder about the fashion sense of the 50-ish guy I saw grocery shopping in his space ship print pjs or the woman I saw at the courthouse in her flannel pj bottoms and knee high, fringed moccasins, but, again, that's just me.

Where do I apply? Because when somebody asks me "Who are you, the Fashion Police?" I want to be able to say, "Yes. Yes I am."
