Letters from an American - Heather Cox Richardson - As usual, this Letter is chock full of important information, including this about the January 6 attempted coup de etat on the United States government:

The House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the U.S. Capitol also has a great deal of information; it has now interviewed more than 800 people...“The evidence so far points to the fact that Donald Trump knew and oversaw what happened on Jan. 6,” Lowell told DeVega (The Guardian). “Trump knew in advance about these different elements that came together to form both the political element of his plan, which was to have Pence throw the election, and the violence that took place on Jan. 6.”

Representative Jamie Raskin (D-MD)...“This was a coup organized by the president against the vice president and against the Congress in order to overturn the 2020 presidential election.” Trump’s role in that coup will be the centerpiece of next month’s public committee hearings.

sort through. We are witnessing one of our two primary political parties trying to dismantle the very foundation of the country they are sworn to protect. I am living in it and I don't understand it. That, combined with about a third of our population willing and able to be led down just about any path that a group of grifter clowns says to follow is terrifying. By far the greatest threat to our democracy is from within, and this will persist even if TFG chokes on a hamberder tomorrow.

Those who supported the coup and continue to undermine our democracy through voter suppression and measures to overturn elections at the state level are not "colleagues" across the aisle -- they are enemies of American constitutional democracy and must be labeled as such.

Thing is, they apparently don't have anything like that.

I believe it will backfire if we try to time this thing to impact the midterms if all they have is a bunch of unconnectable dots and "We know trump is POS and more likely than not had something to do with storming the Capitol." "More likely than not" and a bunch of dots will not convict trump.

Actually, it's gone on too long, the Committee lost critical momentum last summer after interview Capitol Police and showing hours of violent video. Then, the members went on recess or something and now are hyping things like a used car pitchman.

If they have the goods, time to refer it to DOJ and report to the people.
