Lives in a one-story house on a peninsula right near Dewey Beach, and didn't want to evacuate further inland because a neighbor was robbed during the last storm. The water is already in her yard, but she's not worried that it might be higher. Delaware and South Jersey are RIGHT in the path

She's taking care of her elderly mom, who has dementia. I think the her shit is key, but not wanting to move an old lady is another component. If it were just one or the other, I think she'd leave, but since she has both factors, she has rationalized staying.

I'm confused. We started calling up "the Guard" to serve in Iraq and Afghanistan...and I thought that was the responsibility of the active military, and perhaps the reserves?

Am I missing something here? Do the guard JUST SERVE State-side?
