(18,672 posts)As a kid I had no idea it was a right wing stronghold. My dad was Republican but my mom was very liberal. When I was a teen all local politics seemed to tend liberal, with the Vietnam war setting the tone. I Didnt learn that Orange County was very right wing until I left for college.

Not just bad ideas or anti-American activities, but actual mental insanity leading to the inevitable Thelma and Louise denouement.
Want a ride to the grocery store, neighbor?"
"I'm not getting in that car!", pointing to the republican bumper sticker.
Race car driver says, "I'm not getting in that car!" and we see GOP sponsor stickers on the race car.
