...which highlighted New York City in a hypothetical post-human future.

ETA among other things I hadn't known before watching that series, I learned that the NYC subway system has to be pumped constantly to keep the tunnels dry.

He knew what was coming and tried to warn us, but noooo. Global warming and climate change are so foolish. These weather events are much more likely to be signs from God that gays and abortions are baaaaad, right?

I'm more east toward the coast--we're getting steady cold rain (40 degrees!) but not much wind. Instant plunge into winter! In my nest and keeping my feathers warm and dry. Have heard that there's a big mess out on NC's Outer Banks again--they haven't even recovered from Irene last year which was terrible. Sad. I like to go there in summer. I have family up the east coast of VA and up near coastal MD. They're getting effects now. So far haven't lost touch with my sister. I'm supposed to go to DC next week...(!?!) dunno.

Thanks for askin'.

6. Al Gore was right about global climate change

One of the horrible ironies about how politicians have treated global climate change -- the oil industry and GOP deniers being so loud and obnoxious that it has become toxic for Democrats to even mention the subject -- the horrible irony, as I said, is that the Pentagon knows damn well it it happening, and so do civil engineers. As a consequence, some preparation has been made for the coming disasters and displacements, but almost nothing is being done, or can be done on a big enough scale, to prevent it.

When I think of the potential good that was stolen from this nation in 2000, I feel ill. And I'm not pretending that VP Gore was somehow perfect, but he sure as heck has dedicated much of his career in his mature years to educating and inspiring people.

seriously wonder what dubya does all day, has anyone seen or heard a word out of him during this election? It's like he's under house arrest, seriously, the press knows where he lives, can't imagine they aren't watching to see if he ever leaves his place, so WTF is he up to? No wonder the threat of Jeb never happened. Dad wasn't too bright himself, literally incapable of "conversation".

My sister lives in the Catskills. She lost the windshield in her car tonight and damage to her roof. We've been texting back and forth all evening.

I sent her links to Obama kids photos and the thread earlier this evening of a cat and deer loving one another.

I haven't heard from for a bit, but I am sure she's okay.

An Al Gore presidency would have put us on a much brighter path towards tomorrow, and that's why they had to cheat him.
