Maybe he was really just after that proposed "Billionares Tax", which would actually become a "Billionares Tax Break" by giving Elon Musk a massive tax break because, according to some people's logic, the market's selloff of Tesla stocks "lost" Musk billions.
You can't tax unrealized gains if you don't give a tax break for unrealized losses.

every year -- whether gains or loses -- just like retired folks with IRA/401ks. They could try the old "income averaging" used years ago.

Example being mentioned, "Musk may be worth Billions, but that's not liquid.
He'd have to find a loan to buy Twitter. And considering the recent drop in Tesla stocks at the mention of buying Twitter, it's questionable."


Maybe he shouldn't have let the Republican politicians strong arm him into the deal.
