Romney accepted a $25,000 statue as a gift says former Bain staffer
Published on October 29, 2012,
While working at Bain Capital from 2002 to 2003 as support staff, my colleagues and I were instructed to deliver a statue appraised for $25,000 as a gift to Governor Romney from his partners at Bain Capital. In 2002, I saw a fax from the NY Fed Chairman inviting one of Mr. Romneys chief deputies at Bain to lunch to discuss ways to shape the direction of the economy.
This struck me as Bain having back door access to power that others did not have. While he was Governor, it was not unusual to see Mr. Romney at Bain Capital huddling with his advisors. This, too, was a Bain back channel to power and influence that others did not have.

Mitt Romney made us 47th in job growth.
Published on October 28, 2012,
Mitt Romney claims he was a job creator but during his term as governor MA was number 47 in job growth. His company, Bain Capital, bought KayBee Toys, loaded them with debt and then sold them. Several hundred people lost well paying jobs. The company had been making money but not enough for Mitt. Bain also owned Bright Horizons Day Care in our local hospital but its own employees could not afford to send their children there.

Romney made our classrooms into test prep factories.
Published on October 27, 2012,
I work in Higher Education. Romney slashed budgets and raised fees on students. Romney claims that Mass. students were first in education. While they may score high on achievement tests, they are not college ready as a result of measures pushed by Romney. Classrooms are simply test prep factories. Simply put his education policy was a disaster and we are still feeling the effects.

My annual property taxes were $4400 per year before Romney took office and $6400 after he left office.

(1,663 posts)I always wondered why Kaybee basically closed down overnight. I don't really like malls so I am not an expert on which stores are thriving but I use to see Kaybee crowded during the holidays. I thought they also did did decent business since they were the main toy store in many malls.

(10,942 posts)The weekly announcements of Proposition 2 over-rides as towns and cities desperately sought to get enough money to fund schools, fire departments and police. School districts merged to save money and still needed over-rides. Massachusetts dropped from 2nd best in the nation in education to 8th, the state is at number 1 after six years of the democratic Governor that took over after Romney got the fuck out. Prop 2 over-rides stopped as soon as the new Governor re-started revenue sharing with towns and cities.

(19,984 posts)according to Lawrence O'Donnell on Alex Wagner's show today, is really Legislaturecare that Romney chose to sign. O'Donnell said it was the legislature that put it together, not Romney.
What kind of fees could he raise at the federal level to balance the federal budget without raising taxes?
