Huntsman Exodus Begins

You gotta love the loyalty and conviction of this crew - they want their candidate to hurry up and quit so they can go work for a "winning cadidate" like Romney - so they don't even believe in their own guy.

"Days after his third place finish in New Hampshire, some Huntsman for President staffers have already left the campaign, while others tell BuzzFeed they wish the former Utah governor would drop out so they could join Mitt Romney’s team.

"One top volunteer told BuzzFeed that he was shocked Huntsman didn’t drop out on Tuesday. “I was hoping he would. I don’t want to be disloyal or anything, but he doesn’t have a chance anymore. Once he quits, then I can go work for a winning campaign.”

"A current staffer echoed those sentiments, saying Huntsman should have gotten out after New Hampshire to allow those who’ve worked for him to find another job. “We’re not going to quit, but we don’t really want to keep going either.”

Huntsman gave it his best shot at a one-state strategy, and came in underneath a nutbag who will never ever get the Rethug nomination. If he had either won NH outright or even managed a Santorum tie, he still had a snowball's chance in hell at SC and FL. It would be many weeks before he'd find a state half as friendly as New Hampshire was to him.

He's in as much denial as Rick Perry is right now. I don't blame his staffers for not sharing his hallucinations.

My grandmother explained why she became a Democrat: "We didn't leave the Republican Party, it left us."

Huntsman needs to realize that the Republican Party is the party of extremists, fools and the mentally ill. \\

He just isn't crazy enough to run as a Republican.

It certainly does not look likely that he can plausibly win the nomination. But it is not completely impossible that Romney could faulter before the nomination - not likely by any means - but not completely implausible either. If that were to unexpectedly happen - I could imagine that the non-insane wing of the Republican Party might start to rally around him. I don't think this scenario is very likely. Still, when he is out of the race, I will breath a sigh of relief.
