I was in NYC during the last black-out.

W, Times Square.

Generators were running everything.

We bought a couple of carts of wine and beer and headed to the river.

The best few thousand dollars I have ever spent - a good time was had by all.

Now, I am in earthquake-ville (N Bay)

I will probably get killed by my own house.

With the backups. They may have had them in the basement and they got flooded?

There evac'ing the hospital now.

This is a mess.

I'm getting it now. the fuel pumps to take the diesel to the generators were flooded to 2 feet over the top.
They shut down and that caused the backup generators to run dry.

The backup to the backup plan is to evacuate the patients, which is what they are doing.

Is this the power of capitalism? The profit motive?
